I’m @samuielephanthaven today and enjoying an ethical sanctuary in #Thailand where you observe elephants only. This is 2 month old #moonlighthaven and his rescued mother #somboon. She used to be saddled whilst pregnant. But you would never see this as you climb on the saddle from your elevated platform. Please never never never choose to ride an elephant. It’s cruel. As I stood there and watched these young elephants walk up, I really thought about the choice, your choice and mine too, to visit an ethical Elephant Sanctuary. You are supporting the continuation and the possibility to afford more opportunities to rescue elephants. You are supporting the welfare of their resident herd. You are supporting the freedom of an elephant who was used in tourism and for some, illegal logging. Riding an elephant is 15 mins of pain for the animal, over and over and over again, day after day carrying tourists. However please take a moment and look at this video....I see young rescued elephants. I see a pool for them to swim freely, with no tourists to bathe with them. I see green, I see the ocean, I see the blue sky and would you like to know what I feel? I feel joy. I feel happy, my heart soars, my senses are alive and I know that by standing there watching this, I am also supporting the ethical treatment of elephants. I am supporting their chain free lives. I am helping change their lives. Just being there helps to create the change, your support means the world to them. I am one person who chooses NOT to support riding camps or shows where animals and elephants are used to entertain. So one by one we can all help. This is the photo op. This is living in the moment..... What a great day! Please do not ride or bathe with elephants when on holiday, your “gain” is their pain! Thirsty elephants are not given water, there isn't enough water for all these elephents to soak themselves and release the heat and then they forced to go up and down on the high slopes (ramps) of the fort with tourists on their back.
