#Repost @worldanimalnews_ —— Last month, the @NSPCA.RSA won a case of #animalcruelty against one of the beneficiaries of a government-funded farm in the Free State Province in #SouthAfrica. The case involved the severe neglect and abuse of #pigs. 🐖 While what happened to the pigs is tragic, this marks a significant victory, particularly for farm animals because they are so often overlooked and subjected to suffering that only a small minority of people care enough to speak about. 🙏 Thankfully, NSPCA Inspector Mpho Mokoena, who first began working on this case seven years ago, is one of those people. Killer whales are mammals, and that means they must have hair of some kind at some point in their life. At birth, tiny hairs known as vibrissae sprout from both sides of their rostrum. Usually, there are 3-4 hairs on each side. These are only present shortly after birth and disappear quickly. Other cetaceans retain their vibrissae into adulthood, such as humpback whales and Amazon River dolphins. They may serve a sensory purpose like whiskers do!
