I Came Back For You - Beth || Alison
The last couple of weeks have been strange. Being between her crisis with Paul, the killing of Maggie Chen, the stress of having to look over her shoulder every second, plus losing the touch of reality by being on and off meds constantly, made Beth do something she wasn't proud of at all. She had tracked down the clone from Russia, Anya Kolobova, of the same health issues as the German, and it didn’t take a lot of persuading to pose as her, considering that she wanted to die in the first place. Her face still haunted Beth at night, but she thought it was for the best. But it was not only Kolobova’s face that haunted her dreams constantly, as well as every single lucid moment she had. Alison Hendrix was the person hardest to leave among all that madness, especially since they had a connection from the moment Beth had laid eyes on her. Both of them were passionate about things they cared for, Alison for her family, and Beth for her work. Yet, they had found a middle ground despite the clone business and clicked immediately as soon as they laid eyes on each other. From that moment onward, Alison was the only person keeping her mind intact, even more than Art.
She was one of the reasons she decided to leave Florida and return to Toronto, even if it were only for a day, just to see her face once again. The cop was off the meds really this time, her hands were shaking violently as she parked in front of Alison’s house in suburbia, and she kept looking outside, as if she was afraid that the killer would jump her and slit her throat. She didn’t have a gun with herself since she couldn’t cross the border without being asked many unnecessary questions and risk exposure. You are a cop. You faced shit worse than this. Damn right you did. You can do it. Clearing her throat and shaking off her fear, she stepped out of the car and ran to the backyard, her eyes finding the light in the basement. She had probably been drinking again, Beth thought, feeling chills run down her spine at the thought of how Alison might react upon seeing her.
Straightening herself up, and brushing her hair back, Beth tapped on the door three times, quietly, the way she used to do when Donnie wasn’t home and Oscar and Gemma were sleeping. She could see her silhouette through the door, and for the first time in weeks, the cop smiled.
