I had the pleasure of volunteering at the #donutdash at City Park reprising my role as “hydration specialist “. The donuts? Krispy Kremes and yes they were delicious. I can’t help but think I could have been more effective at the donut table but maybe that was for the best. Here is the point of this post. Your comfort zone is really a prison. Granted, a prison with air conditioning, hi-def tv and satellite but it is still a prison. As a coach, my job is to get people out of that comfort zone and try something new. David and Kerstin took me up on that and did their first 5k. I couldn’t be more proud. In fact they already signed up for the mother’s day 5k. Here is the reality. You can live in the matrix and have a decent life or you can stretch your boundaries and see what is on the other side. You will never be sorry you took the risk. The running community is a very warm, welcoming family to anyone. People have an idea that they won’t fit in but they soon discover everyone else is just like them. So is the Spartan family. I will be carrying extra electrolytes and gels with me this weekend in case I see someone struggling. I will make sure everyone around me finishes. That is just the way it is done. P.s. we need 3 more people for our Ragnar team in Snowmass. Check it out online and let me know if you are interested. #mfactorfitness #bigmanruns #donutdash2018 #spartanrace #spartanfortcarson #spartantraining #ragnar #ragnarsnowmass #ragnartraining (at City Park, Denver)
