· Do create the acceptable policy of internet use at work:
Make sure the employees understand clearly what they are allowed to access on internet while working. Some personal sites are acceptable such as personal email access, Facebook and Skype. However, the use of online shopping, watching YouTube or download irrelevant software needs to be banned.
· Do use e-mail as main communication:
The report from The Radicati Group predicts in 2020 almost half of the global population will be using e-mail (The Radicati Group, 2016). E-mail has been the leading form of business communication since it is more convenient and efficiency. Instead of waste papers for fax, or unprofessional like IM and chat, e-mail is the type of communication that can work for professional environment. In addition, some retail business start to apply e-commerce transaction by sending receipt through e-mail. Another example can tell from the bank industry that they go paperless by sending e-statement to customer instead of mail to their house.
· Do have good anti-virus software:
Protect company’s confidential information is the most necessary job at work. Since people easy to get communicate through internet, it simultaneous means people can get the other’s information easier. On the other hand, employees could accidentally download or access insecurity software online which causes virus to the company’s network system. It may lead to the shutdown of business communication for few hours or even a day. Worst thing is when the business does not have a connection; it lost the money of that time, lost potential customers as well as prospective collaboration with another business.
