Bigger Than Big Boy:
The thing was so massive, the young woman did not realize it was alive until she was on its back.
Lily froze as the mountain of metal was not scrap shifting, but moving until the right optic was peering back at her. The orange-red glow distinctly shifting to focus on Lily, freezing her in place.
Slowly, Lily realized that she was on the back of a truly massive creature.
“Oh… oh no.” Lily swallowed thickly. Daring to look around, seeing the titan of a dragon shape only now. Curled around the nest spot Viola had left. Climbing over this monster as if he had not been there just a few minutes ago.
The wintherin was done shaking herself off, looking back and chittering a notably reassuring tone. Trying to get the frozen Lily to finish climbing over the mass. As if it was perfectly normal that a massive mountain of metal space dragon was apart of the nest wall-
The monster was moving, Lily clung to the edges of the metal around her. Belatedly feeling the muscles under the layer of metal flexing and rippling. More power in the giant form then even Viola had. She whined, not sure what to do as it rose, and rose even higher up to its feet.
Lily clung, not even daring to try and stand. Just clung to a broken, warn down spike and metal armor. Looking around as the big beast walked slowly, for it, off the cliff clearing… no, it was a platform. Lily blinked as she realized that it was something manmade. Argenta made?
…same difference at this point.
She could see the too smooth edges, and though there was dirt and gravel, it was not hard to see the bricks and metal that once made the platform flat. The young woman looked back at it, seeing Viola following after them snorting and following. Her teeth snapped at the air, the massive wintherin grumbling but was not, oddly, aggressive or upset.
Viola had been vibrating with anger when Lily saw her land on that beach. The big space dragon had been livid at finding the corrupted Sentinels.
Lily watched as Viola folded her wings and loped heavily after what the woman was sitting on. Coming up to snort and sniff at the human then dropped back and grabbed at the blunted end of his tail with her mouth. Viola falling into step behind the creature that out classed her in mass.
“You know this thing?” Lily asked, pausing as there was a rumble under her.
Almost like a tone of ‘really?’ The human slowly looked ‘forward,’ seeing the massive, broad dragon head tilted to the right to be able to look back. The dragon had paused walking to get a proper look at Lily as she quickly caught on and tried again.
There was a distinctly amused snort from under Lily, before the giant dragon started walking again. He did not seem to notice that Viola still had the end of his tail. Then a rattling vibration that was suspiciously like a chuckle.
“I have the feeling you’re a lot smarter then other things around huh?” Lily guessed, frowning as she shifted to sit a little more blanched. The wintherin were pretty smart to start with too!
The massive wall of walking muscle gave a low, “Purrrrllurrf.” sound, shaking his head and neck, but the motion just gave a shiver to his shoulders.
Lily looked around, slowly moving to what looked like a dip in the armor between the shoulder blades. She heard and felt a sigh from the bigger than big space dragon under Lily. The human paused and found something etched onto the top of the thick armor over the front of the shoulders. Her fingers tracing over the small, rough mark of the Slayer. Then looked down to pull her sleeve up and looked at the leather wrist brace that Beth had carefully wrapped over to hide the Slayer’s Mark under there from the corrupted Sentinels.
Then Lily frowned.
Ducking a bit, she used the edge of her sleeve, rubbing at the metal, then found she could get her nails into the worn lines. Cleaning them out and saw the carved letters in english, not argenta. Two lines, as if pressed into the metal while it was cooling so long ago, before the mark was carved into the metal.
“Daisy?” Lily echoed aloud, trying to think of anything other than Daisy-Due. Only coming up with a few memories of seeing simple daisy flowers sometimes in John's old notebooks.
BJ & Daisy
Don’t forget
Heather called that big stuffed easter bunny Daisy too. Well, an odd sign meant for it, having picked up from John. Mixing the Argent sign for ‘day,’ with the human one for ‘flower.’
Lily wondered who he meant in the carving. Reminder? It was definitely in an out of the way spot there. Like something had been covering it before. She looked around, finding her odd big group of three now on a lower path. There were dozens more dens in sight, half carved into the walls, half with man made platforms. There were also thick green rows of bushes, with berries or hanging fruit. And...streams of water that shimmered in the filtered light.
Lily looked up at the vast rib cage and spine above this canyon. Wondering what could possibly leave bones like that. Now that she was out in the open, it seemed almost like a volcanic crater, but oblong to follow the spinal shape above. “What is this place?”
Viola let go of the bigger dragon's tail, walking ahead to one of the streams. Sniffing until she found a pool and then started to drink deeply. It was rather impressive that she could drink that much. Lily all at once realized she had yet to see any of the wintherin eat, or drink for that matter. Her ride rumbled and moved over to a pool a little further and half under a platform.
The sun was out here, and Lily looked up at a big, but not nearly as big as Viola, wintherin sun basking with wings sprawled out. She realized it was not a metallic, but greyed hide she was seeing. Old wings that were torn and healed a little crooked in the membrane.
Lily realized she was seeing a senior wintherin for the first time. Just peaceful sleeping, not even minding when Viola came to invade her platform to settle with the old one, starting to intently groom along the older dragon's back where she might not be able to reach anymore.
From what Lily was told, Viola was a matriarch class, or rank? Out ranking almost any other dragon.
But for elder wintherin?
It was more like Viola knew these two, as she was back to purring and murmuring sounds while grooming.
The bigger than big space dragon hesitated, then slowly started to lay down. Groaning as if it was hard to do so. The ground vibrated as he plopped his hindquarters down, tail flicking out of the way before slowly stretching out one foreleg, and then the other. Being very careful to not disturb the pool in the rocks much.
It took Lily a minute and a great big purring feeling to realize she had been brought to the water. She was allowed to climb down now off his back. Looking around and started to take in the wide valley like area, the arching bones that made up the sky.
She yelped as the giant dragon opened his mouth and licked up Lily's back, purring again. "Hey- oh god. Sir, please don't, I can take a bath on my own- you could sneeze and accidently inhale me- please don't."
The old drake seemed to blink his optic-eye at the child sized argenta to him. He pushed his muzzle closer to sniff, then licked her again.
