This is an advertisement for Enix’s first “Game Hobby Program Contest” that was held from February 20, 1982 to January 15, 1983. Out of the almost three hundred entries, only thirteen games were chosen as winners which were all published for various Japanese computers in February 1983. The titles were the first games ever published by Enix and covered a verity of different genres, ranging from a strategy RPG to even an erotic title. While they didn’t win the grand prize, the two most important games to win the contest were a puzzle game called Door Door and Love Match Tennis. Koichi Nakamura and Yujii Horii created these games which propelled their careers into the video game industry. This ultimately lead to them working together on the Famicom port of The Portopia Serial Murder Case and eventually creating the first five Dragon Quest games together, both of which were incredibly influential titles in Japan that changed the landscape of gaming forever.
