What’s in a Banana Daiquiri?

Lagunitas Doppel Weizen doesn’t taste very Bavarian, but that’s fine with me. It started out traditional enough -- hazy, fluffy, smelling slightly of ripe banana -- but then comes the big citrus. Lagunitas is always going nuts with the citrus. The hops don’t really overpower the beer though. They play nice with the yeasty esters. The result is a tropical take on an old recipe. It’s really, really good. And nine percent alcohol. This ain’t your dad’s weizenbier.

Beer 26: Bavarian-Styled Doppel Weizen

This beer is really quite sweet. It has a lot of caramel flavor paired with some malts and just a hint of back end fruitiness. It is a little syrupy, but in a pleasing way and all in all I like it. Don't expect it to be refreshing like other Weizens are, it is rather heavy.
