ive been watching the english doraemon dub for nostalgia sake and i love catching when they censor or change something. its so ridiculous

watched the kid bandits special for the first time

#doraemon talk #it really didnt end up one of my favorite specials but i do enjoy the character dynamics at play its a fun au idea #nobihei has good chemistry with everyone but sunemaru and takezou stand out the most. particularly sunemaru #i like how it completely lacks any antagonism and nobihei is so kind to him... in general sunemaru lacks any real bite #mostly because hes super emotional and confused all the time. its kind of endearing #the whole time i couldnt help but think about the consequences of tampering with THIS MUCH in this time period #ALSO the gag at the end with nobiheis mom is really funny solid 10/10 bit

#doraemon talk #screencaps #i like how in an odd way sunemaru sticks out more as the 'nobita' of the dynamic amongst the kids. not in a one to one way ofc #takezou picking on sunemaru is interesting bc it feels like theres a lot of unsaid tension at play w/ how he tries to reach out and fails #and gets frustrated witnessing nobiheis unrelenting kindness towards him. another layer being the former friendship when they were younger #which is featured in two of these images #ofc whats also at play is the class dynamic and i can imagine it makes him mad seeing sunemaru be ignorant to it and “weak”#swear this is not me injecting jaisune into my observations it just read to me that theres a lot to examine in the way they wrote the kids #would genuinely make a fascinating au to think over and expand upon #i havent even rambled about oshizu... i wish they did more like the set up they had at the start with her being furious at nobihei #but nobihei and oshizu being best friends feels like its pretty much dropped after that #also i do now see why ive seen a few nobisune art about these versions of them. been wondering about that
