Witch tip:
If you are taking exams soon, carve a sigil for luck, doing well, or focus into the pencil/pen you are using to take the exam.

Quick cleansing/Pick me up spray
Since I can’t use any smoke in my dorm room, I decided to use a spray instead. I used Witchsmoke base idea by mixing a pinch of salt with water but used one of the essential oil combos on this list.
Lavender: Health and peace (3 drops)*
Peppermint: Purification (2 drops)*
Orange: Purification and Joy (5 drops)*
Just add all of the above and shake to mix.
I personally feel like they smell great together and I definitely noticed an overall boost in my mood a few minuets after I used it.
*Note: you can add as many drops as you want, this was just my preference.*
ATTENTION DORM WITCHES!
or any witch who will be in a dorm or on campus in the future and such. I’ll be moving into mine this weekend so I’ve been looking around for tips and tricks to avoid braking any rules in the dorms and while researching I got the idea of become a type of guinea pig for these tips and tricks. So, if anyone has some ideas or tips that they want tested out in a dorm like environment, feel free to ask me and I’ll try them out.
Note: I’m pinching pennies this semester so please nothing to expensive or at least nothing that I can’t improvise with cheaper items.
So, drop a question or a link to an idea in my ask me box thingy and I’ll post my results and, if requested, tag you with them.
Want to use scented candles/melting wax for your magic but cant use an open flame?
technology has just what your magic needs
let me introduce to you: The Electric Candle Warmer
They can be a little pricey I think- the cheapest I’ve ever seen them was $10 however, that means they are in the perfect range for putting on wishlists for birthdays, holidays, dorm/apartment warming, ect. and if you’re a discreet witch these are pretty normal household/room items to ask for/have so it wouldn’t raise any suspicion. you can get them bland and plain looking or fancy looking with different colors and shapes/designs they also come in various sizes although it may take some looking for. (It’s also probably worth noting they are weaker than a hot plate because safety- but if you are careful you might be able to use that just as well as you can use this.)
some of them are flat and so you would use a candle that either is in a glass jar/bowl thing already or put the candle in one your self, others seem to have a bowl as part of its design so you can put those scented wax melty things in them but I still might suggest the use of something else to put the candle/wax in just in case and maybe also so you can switch out the wax/candle faster/easier.
again, like with electric candles (which I think are just as good as this/real candles unless what you need is the actual melting/melted wax or a smell that you cant get elsewhere besides from a candle/melty wax thing for whatever reason), you cant really burn anything with it but if what you need is melted wax and a smell this will do the job. and you can use it over and over again.
Adapting Spells: For Dorm Use
This article series explores the useful technique of adapting spells. In this particular article, I’ll be explaining my process of adapting a spell for dorm use. This will primarily address omitting flames, incense, burying, and more expensive materials (such as a mortar and pestle).
I’ll start by adapting one of my own spells (link).
By looking at the materials, you can see that this spell needs a candle. In general, candles have four uses: as a means of delivering energy, to represent color or duration of spell, to represent the element of fire, and to cleanse or purify an area, idea, or object. More than one method may be utilized at a time, so pay close attention to the function of the candle. In this spell, the candle is being used for (1) color and duration and (2) means of delivering energy. To sub a candle in this spell, I’m going to use a sachet or charm bag. This is my favorite method of eliminating candles in a spell because I find that it’s the most versatile and covers the most uses of candles. Now, your materials will be: caraway and dill, sigil for communication, small yellow bag OR yellow cloth with a string.
Now I’ll move on to the steps. The first step asks you to grind materials using a mortar and pestle. We’re not going to do this for two reasons. First, depending on the material being used for your sachet, the powder may just fall right out. The second reason is we’re assuming that I don’t have a mortar and pestle. So instead, I am going to leave the ingredients whole and put approx. 1/2 teaspoon off to the side to use later.
For step two, instead of carving anything into the candle, I’m going to write down the information on a piece of paper. First, roll the paper into a tube large enough to write on each side. On the sides, write the symbol for Mercury. On the front, write the initials, and on the back, create your sigil. Fold the bottom so that it is closed off.
In step three, instead of sprinkling the ingredients on the candle, add about half to the inside of your paper tube and the other half to the bottom of the sachet. Place the paper tube inside of the sachet. Instead of lighting the candle, hold it in both hands and whisper the incantation. Repeat for eight days. At the end of the 8th day, dispose of the ingredients by ripping up the paper and releasing it into the winds with the herbs. Cleanse the baggies before reusing.
Other Methods
Candles - if used for purification or representing fire, use fire salt or another cleansing method; this can be added to a sachet or done on its own.
Burying - commonly used for absorbing energies into the earth: take a small bag such as a grocery bag and fill it with sand, dirt, rocks, or salt. Bury the ingredient(s) in the bag and throw the bag into a garbage can outside.
Incense - if being used to represent air, use a whistle, bells, or your own breath; if being used for cleansing, use a mixture of lavender and rosemary/bay or sea salt.
Mortar and Pestle - use a spoon and a bowl, oils instead of whole herbs, or place the ingredient in a baggie and use a rock or your feet to break up the pieces.
