Rachel held her purse near, trying to evade the tall grasses that came her way as she walked to the back of the school. Dot was still in Vegas, and Rachel promised the younger girl that she will talk to her pond.
If she had her former roommate, she wouldn’t have minded. Her former roommate was a musician. Now, her roommate was a girl named Steeler, and she was a Henderson. And if there was something about the Hendersons that she learned when she passed by the cafe one rainy night, is that trouble follows them, or at least, brought trouble with them. Now don’t get her wrong, Steeler doesn’t really scream trouble and nothing bad happened yet, so yeah.
As she passed through a clearing, she thought about what she could possibly talk to a pond about. She thought about what’ been happening around her for a while. Looking down, she thought about her life before Acme. It was a blur of books, debate competitions and tennis for her. 'How exciting.' She thought. She shook her head and was snapped out of her thoughts as she stepped on a twig.
She looked up and saw a pond. ‘This must be it.’ She thought. Watching her step, she made way to a good spot right next to the pond. As she set her purse down, she looked over the pond to see if there was anything different, anything. Anything that might be special, a diamond among the rough, on why Dot chose this place. Seemingly finding nothing, Rachel sat and pulled her legs close, putting her head on her knees.
"So..pond." She started. "Something to talk to you about, um..." Rachel played with the small piece of grass near her. "Well, how 'bout that weather, huh? Kinda..too hot yesterday. They said it would rain on the weekends though, so..that might make up for the heat, right?" She sighed, suddenly thinking that this might not be a good idea. She shook her head again. After she cleared her throat, she started to talk again. "Ok..how about..uh..well," She looked down, thinking (for the hundredth time) that this might not be a good idea. Then, she realized, it might be. Maybe letting it out, saying it out loud might help her. A lot.
"Well, there's this guy, his name is Nigel Uno. He's British..and smart..and a total workaholic. Also, he's cute." She smiled to herself. "Thing is..we're friends. But..it's like..I don't want to be friends. I want him on my bed." She bit her lip, her cheeks reddening. Did I really just say that out loud? Clearing her throat, she tried to start again. "Anyway..school's coming soon..and..sure, school. Hurray. Friends. Work load." Even if it was just a pond, Rachel still felt a bit embarassed saying it out loud, but she's also a bit relieved, getting it out of her chest. Maybe this will be good therapy. She thought, smiling to herself.
Rachel's schedule and the whole 'life-after-KND' thing left her with little to no time to let loose. When she met Dot here at Acme, she realized she might have been missing more than just a few laughs.
