Wondering what I learned today? I wondered about the white colour in aboriginal art. It is a white rock found by digging in the soil in mostly North West Australia.

And dot painting is limited to certain areas - mostly dry desert areas. The symbols are related to dirt and dust; sitting imprints, water locations and animal and snake prints in dry dirt. Wetter areas are not conducive to dot painting. And Western art was introduced sooner in the wetter areas.

After watching a single mother duck give up on teaching her eight ducklings to jump up and over a concrete barrier wall, (yes that’s what you have time to do on an extended holiday) we walked through this stunning underpass that kinda matched Craig’s dot shirt.

Visited the Ian Potter Centre NGV Australia today. We were fortunate enough to join a tour with Monica. She took us on a journey through Australian landscapes from the idyllic colonization of Tasmania to the starkness of a modern day parking garage. In addition we checked out an aboriginal exhibit and futuristic look at how will technology transform the body including an exercise in how I will be perfected.

So many takeaways from these three hours - noteworthy that the forest landscapes were so detailed that this information determined which plants were used to reforest devastated areas.

Wondering why we don’t spend more of our time on creative pursuits.
