you see, I never thought I'd say this, but

I kind of hate drawing Nerif. It's not like drawing Ish'kafel or Harbinger, where the design is so alien you can make it extremely detailed or inorganic without it feeling inherently wrong. Because any design for Oracle that strays even a step too far from the original does feel inherently wrong, but at the same time, the outfit and motifs are incredibly fun to play with!

I mean, I've experienced this before—tugging at the world and its heroes like a rogue Weaver—it is the very basis for my fanart project, after all. But this concept specifically, it just breaks me.

I had heaps of fun designing my Seamstress, but when taking a step back to imagine them as a regular Oracle, it feels... strange. Even the "final" design—when I grew too tired to refine it any further and just wanted to see it done—feels like it's lacking something. Of course, the whole point was to make the design different enough from Nerif's, even at that point in their story—but it still feels weird to look at them side-by-side and not see the exact same elements. It feels weird not to see the same familiar robes, helm, and orb, or some variation thereof.

Perhaps it's just me having played the hero far too many times, or perhaps it is my brain smacking into an art block like a bird to a glass window.

So, uh—today I discovered Weaver’s innate was reworked.

One must imagine my surprise upon doing so, because in the last few months I was doing some custom hero/game tests centered on Weaver using a fairly similar ability…

…loosely codenamed Threads of Fate.

Not the first time something like this happens, of course, but I’m surprised (and somewhat amused) these coincidences still happen to me.

Anyway, don’t be surprised if I seem a little inactive. Other activities, projects, and research (along with the duties and needs of a human) all eat up a lot of my day and don’t leave much time for illustration. I have been writing notes on the new Impdom NPCs and species guides, but there’s not much in the way of visual references yet.

Also, I have picked up embroidery as a little side thing. It’s fun, even though I’m not quite sure about posting it here. Feels a little personal, and my camera skills are not up to my standards. We’ll see.

I may cross-post/reblog some of the modding/game dev stuff from my junk blog, though—mainly the 3D modeling and environmental design posts as those are more relevant to this blog.

not to be horny on main but being startled awake from a dream where i was giving faceless void a bj (far from the weirdest dream i’ve had tbh) only to find out

A) there’s an abnormally large amount of of horny posts on my feed

B) jenkins reviewed a herald game with a faceless void in it

also im sorry but i really think Kez and Oracle are the easiest complexity 3 heroes.

Oracle is all about knowing when to disable enemies or save allies, Kez is more about being aware of which weapon you’re using. nowhere near as finicky as Lone Druid or Invoker tbh
