all these dummies in the dotd comments are ALWAYS like "rhodes might have been a bad guy, but he had the right idea!" or any other stupid excuses and I roll my eyes every time. you guys, romero portrayed the soldiers as being cowardly, bigoted, murdering jerk-offs for a REASON. it's to show that in times of crisis, people regarded as "heroes" can and will find a way to abuse their positions of power. in troubled times the us government wouldn't try to make itself the "good guy" anymore. it would just do what it thinks it needs to do to survive, no matter how many ppl get hurt. it's done it time and time again. if the roles had been reversed, and it was the scientists killing the "innocent" soldiers, nobody would have a problem with the portrayal, but because it's painting the us military in a critical light everybody makes up hundreds of excuses for why the soldiers were 100% even tho romero uses the narrative to show they're 100% wrong.
