g-d tho. vld really went and told all the black girls looking up to allura that they have to give up everything they are, their heritage, their power, have to literally carry the entire universe on their backs, give and give their energy and emotional support until they fucking die, all thankless. why. why should black women be required to give their blood sweat and tears to create a peaceful world they won’t even get to live to see?

shalluraweek day 3: follow/lead

One thing that annoyed me during ep 1 in s8 was when Allura was going on her rant about not having a family to Lance, and I was literally yelling at the screen about how Shiro also didn’t have a family to go to (cuz the closest one he had DIED in s7 & monsantos don’t care enough about him to actually GAVE him one) and how she just should’ve just hanged out and bonded w/ him over it, instead of wasting her time with Lance!

IKR SHE LOOKED SO SAD AND LANCE DIDN’T FUCKING UNDERSTAND AT ALL. just said some generic shit abt how he loved her and she could be his family and shit. like piss off, you could NEVER understand her pain.

shiro and allura were set up as two lost drifting souls in the universe finding new homes in each other. hell, even keith had more common ground w her than lance did, tho it was kinda undermined by him finding his blood family while allura’s remain donezo, and shiro’s nonexistent.

keith approaches allura after she has lost another piece of altea. he remains standing, towering above her crouched form, as he attempts to console her.

shiro sits with allura after she has lost another piece of altea. he is crouched down to her level as he comforts her.

allura is unconvinced by keith’s words, and walks forward, voicing further anxieties, facing away from him.

allura smiles and thanks shiro, comforted by his words, and stands up to speak about how alfor’s legacy lives on, re-empowered as a leader.

lance and keith fail to lift allura up like shiro does. she is emotionally vulnerable around him, which is important for black girls who are often characterized as emotionless, but her confidence and strength is allowed to shine through. that’s why i’m shallura forever.
