The prologue starts with MC saying her dream is to be the bride of her loved one.
We then move to her work place – the hospital she works at as a nurse. She runs into her boyfriend who also works there, Takeshi Aida (who she lives with) and tells him she made onigiri for when he gets back from his late shift. Lately he’s been busy studying, and even last Tuesday they had to postpone their plans cause he had some business. He says they should go somewhere next time they both have time off. MC goes to inspect their shift timetable and takes a photo.
Evidence gathered
Photo of timetable
MC has seen a wedding magazine(?) at their place and is thinking that Takeshi is thinking of proposing sometime soon. They’ve been together for 3 years. She’s thinking about how happy she will be if she marries him.
Sumika Shito who is also a nurse and MC’s friend. Sumika is wondering why MC is so happy but she doesn’t explain (haha) and Sumika remarks that Takeshi is working at other hospitals too and that she’s thinking he’s saving up for a wedding. MC didn’t know about that and thinks about how he’s already so busy but going to those lengths anyway.
Yoichi Tokiwa, a medical intern enters the staffroom. There’s some talk about their patients (I think). Another nurse, Shunsuke Wataya enters also.
He says that last night they’ve admitted a “special patient”. Sumika is guessing if it’s a politician, an actor or… a yakuza? Lol her face:
Shunsuke is basically like yup you got it… MC panics and goes to escape the room when a senior nurse comes in and asks her to be in charge of the VIP patient. And yep, it’s none other than MC’s father.
He is a leader of one of the major yakuza groups, “Ryumon” (literally dragon gate). Next to his bed, is his right hand man and number 2 Ao Okura.
MC's father is in the hospital because he collapsed yesterday, and he laughs saying he thought he died. MC wants him transferred immediately. She left her family 7 years ago, when she went to nursing school because she wants nothing to do with the underworld.
Her father remarks that she’s grown to look like her mother. Kosaku Ichimura, the treating doctor enters.
He’s usually super busy and MC is thinking about how he must have been assigned because Okura demanded the top doctor of the hospital. MC makes an excuse to leave because she doesn’t want Ichimura-sensei and Sumika to find out about her relationship (to her father and the yakuza). As she’s going down the hallway she runs smack into Takeshi who tells her not to push herself too hard. As she watches him go she thinks about how she REALLY doesn’t want him knowing she is a daughter to a yakuza but that would mean lying for her whole life… She then notices a pen on the floor.
Evidence gathered
Cat shaped pen
She meets Okura at a nearby café wanting to have her father transferred. She tells him about how her mother was a nurse who fell in love with her father when he was admitted as a patient. After MC was born was when her father told her mother about him being a yakuza boss. Then, when MC was 5 years old an accident has left MC’s mother in a coma ever since. MC believes she’s been robbed of a normal life being tied to the underworld and so left it all behind and cut all ties.
Okura asks if that’s all and calls her a “stupid brat” who doesn’t understand the world. He hands her a slip of paper which shows he is transferring. He writes down her father’s contact info on special Ryumon memo pad paper.
Evidence gathered
Memo with father’s phone number
He tells her to visit/contact again before he dies. MC asks what his illness is and he has stage 4 cancer, with an estimated one year left.
MC now back at home is thinking about contacting her friend, Karen Nakano who like her, is a daughter of a yakuza. She runs a club in Ginza. She messages her on TalkTime telling her she wants some advice and that her father has cancer. Karen is shocked, saying he visited the club last week, on February 10th (last Tuesday) with a young guy she hasn’t seen before though remarks that for once he wasn’t smoking. She sends a photo she took at that time. MC looks at the photo and sees someone who looks like Takeshi in the back…
Evidence gathered
Photo of father and Karen
MC asks Karen about it but Karen says she was quite busy and doesn’t quite remember. That was the Tuesday that MC had plans with Takeshi that fell through. The delivery man comes, delivering a letter for Takeshi with the words “credit company” printed on it (he’s buying stuff on credit).
Evidence gathered
Registered envelope
She notices the place is a bit messy and goes to tidy up.
Evidence gathered
Wedding magazine
Memo (with amounts of money written on it)
Taxi fare receipt
Short term job finding magazine
Slot machine guidebook
MC isn’t sure why he has a guidebook for slot machines. When she sees that he has a magazine advertising short term jobs (and high paying) she thinks he may be saving up for a wedding. But as a whole the items are suspicious and she thinks that Takeshi and her dad might have a connection.
Takeshi then returns home but as MC has been preoccupied she hasn’t made anything to eat. He suggests going out and goes off to get changed when he receives a TalkTime message (he left his phone on the table). MC sees it and her suspicions are confirmed – he’s hiding something big from her and she needs to get to the bottom of it.

Review the evidence here:
DOUBT PART
MC: What were you doing last Tuesday night?
Takeshi: Last Tuesday? Ah, I was working over time until late.
Prove that he wasn’t at the hospital working.
Photo of timetable
MC: According to the timetable you weren’t rostered on that day.
Takeshi: Oops! I remembered that I got called by a colleague and went drinking near the hospital.
MC: Near the hospital? You were actually in Ginza!
Takeshi: I wasn’t in Ginza, it’s so expensive there.
Prove that Takeshi went to Ginza
Taxi fare receipt
MC: You had this receipt on your desk for a taxi from Ginza until home!
Takeshi: Ahhh that’s right, the colleague wanted to keep going so we went for a second round at Ginza. Of course I wouldn’t lie to you (lol yeah right).
MC: Then how do you explain this?
Prove what Takeshi was doing in Ginza
Photo of father and Karen
MC: My friend sent me this photo and look, you’re in the back.
Takeshi: It’s probably someone who looks like me? Okay, he really looks like me or even could be me! But I don’t have much of a memory of that time because I had so much.
MC: Fine, then I’ll ask this. You’re hiding something from me aren’t you?
What’s Takeshi hiding?
A. He’s borrowing money
B. He’s cheating
C. He has a cat ear fetish
Answer: A
MC shows him his phone screen and says “here it says you’re taking loans from ‘father’” and he starts to argue that she shouldn’t be looking at his phone, but there have been times in the past that he “just happens” to look at messages that come through on her phone etc. so he has no right to complain.
Sweating it up.
She points out that he’s looking for other jobs, working at other hospitals, all because he must be having trouble paying back the loans. He denies it, saying he’s saving up for a wedding. She can’t forgive him for just casually throwing around the idea of marriage. If he was saving up money why did he go to a club in Ginza when one night at a club costs tens of thousands of yen (several hundred USD).
Takeshi: It’s because “father” was paying, I didn’t spend anything!
MC: Your father has that much money?
Takeshi: It’s not MY father, it’s yours..!
Takeshi: …Oops.
MC: You have a connection to my father, the leader of the Ryumon group and this proves it.
Prove their connection
Memo (with amounts of money written on it)
MC: This is a special memo pad that only those of the Ryumon group have.
Takeshi: N-no way! I bought that at Tokyu Pands (Tokyu Hands).
MC pulls out the one that she received from Okura earlier that day with her father’s contact details on it pointing out they are the same. MC says he’s been borrowing money from her father and he admits it but says something like they’d all be family when they get married. MC is thinking that her father offered this money to him as a way to be connected (and tie her to the group) or something like that not sure sorry!
Takeshi: Calm down and think about it. Really, I’m the only man who would marry a daughter of a yakuza-
MC: Never underestimate a yakuza woman!! * (this is MC’s trademark line, and is said in Kansai dialect and I’m not sure the greatest way to translate it. In Japanese it is 極道の女なめたらアカンで!)
MC slaps him. She is surprised that those words slipped out.
MC: What exactly did you need the money for?
Takeshi: My friend invited me to play baccarat, I won big and couldn’t stop. I lost and lost then on… Yes, I lied to you but my feelings for you aren’t a lie. I promise I’ll make you happy so please, won’t you give me another chance?
Final choice
A. Don’t forgive him
B. Forgive him
We all know the answer right?
MC asks Takeshi that if he weren’t in dire need of money if he would still marry her (with her being the daughter of a yakuza boss). He hesitates and she knows that’s all the answer she needs. She says she won’t be with him and he needs to leave and he says that’s troubling and that she should be the one to leave (x_x) as he can’t pay all the rent and that if he isn’t with MC anymore he won’t be able to receive money from her father, go out eating etc. anymore. She gets angry (rightly so) and points out if that he’s that desperate for money he can sell his silver filling for at least some money. He kneels down in dogeza position to apologise. She packs her things and leaves.
Karen’s room.
MC goes to Karen (who lives in a share house) and talks in her room about all that’s happened. MC says she’s glad she discovered his true nature before marrying him and Karen asks MC what she would do if MC’s father were to arrange her to meet a man from the underworld to which she protests profusely, because she wants to be normal.
MC says she needs to find a new place to live and Karen suggests living in that very share house as there is a spare room and everyone is nice. MC likes that idea since she can live with her friend and also that it’s super close to the hospital she works at. Karen calls the owner and he okays it.
MC’s room
MC has moved into her room and someone knocks on her door. It’s Kazuma Kazemiya, a fellow resident who’s come to introduce himself and invites her to come drink with everyone else.
The living room, and Kazemiya-kun’s intro.
??: Ah you must be Miss Newface? I’m Reiko Himeno but please call me Hime-chan.
Next for intros is “Amy” (Ami Sugiyama) who is 26 years old and grew up in America but now works in IT.
Last up is Yuuki Kamukura who is also 26 years old and works as a freelancer photographer. Everyone calls him Yuu-kun so he invites MC to do the same.

MC wakes up to a lot of noise and goes down to the dining room to find Kazemiya-kun and Yuu-kun who are cleaning the kitchen after they found it super messy. In the sink they find a cup that contained beer, and a soup bowl. In the bin they find some snack wrapper with the half eaten snack still in it. Kazemiya-kun points out that the microwave has soup splashes in it. MC helps the boys clean up. Yuu-kun says that he found cut hair in the bathroom sink the other day which clogged up the sink hole. The rules are that everyone should at least clean up after themselves in the share house and Kazemiya-kun posts a (gentle) reminder on the share house’s FindFriend account.

Hime-chan
Emi
Karen
The three girls enter the kitchen and decide to make sandwiches though Karen decides to pass. She works late and comes home almost around dawn. Ami notices there are no more drinks left and MC recalls that last week there were often times there were no drinks (tea, coffee, etc). Karen brings coffee and drinks from her room which she received from customers.
The girls eat lunch. Ami works at the IT company GOOLGLE (Google..) in Roppongi. She talks about how she’s been too busy lately to eat at the company’s food court and takes the last train home every day. Karen also works a lot every night and Karen offers MC a job there (joke) and she decline as she’s happy being a nurse. Hime-chan jokes that she will work for Karen. Hime-chan is an office lady in Marunouchi.
After lunch Ami is going shopping, Karen goes back to bed and MC wants to go sleep too but Hime-chan wants to drag MC off to see a fortune teller. They go off to see Cassie (“Johnny” in the English version). Of course MC thinks of some rude things (like his butt chin etc. LOL) and he’s like that’s rude!
Cassie starts the fortune telling session (Hime-chan goes shopping outside while she waits) and Cassie says that MC’s life has been hard so far and things are about to get worse as there are 9 liars incoming. Cassie notes that there is someone particularly dangerous within the 9. Cassie does note though that if she can get past the 9 liars MC will gain the happiness that she desires and find her fated partner too.
They travel back home by train and MC notes that Hime-chan is sitting on the priority seat (normally reserved for disabled people, those who are pregnant etc.) though the carriage is empty. MC decides to just stand. Hime-chan shows MC the new pink hat she bought from the Joe Yazawa collection.
MC receives a text from Ami, who is at the supermarket and asks if MC or Hime-chan want anything. As MC is already near the supermarket the three of them decide to meet there and shop together. Hime-chan places a lot of snacks (that she likes) into the cart. They also buy coffee and tea. Ami places a milk tea (that costs 500 yen) into the cart. She says it’s the brand that her mum often bought for her while she was living in America. After paying, Hime-chan says she’s going shopping for a bit before going home and Ami is stopping by at a café. MC offers to take the shopping home.
Evidence gathered
Shopping receipt
MC wonders why both of them need to live in a share house when they seem like they are quite successful (and would have money) but concludes that everyone has their reasons. MC goes home and surfs FindFriend before bed.
Evidence gathered

Ami’s FindFriend screenshot 1
Photo of Ami with her friend, smoking
In the share house screenshot it lists the member who is “in charge” every month ie. is generally in charge of things like making sure drinks are stocked, some general tidying etc. It’s November and MC notes it is Karen’s month (suggesting she hasn’t been on top of things since the place has been messy?).
MC wakes up at 3am and goes to kitchen, where she finds Karen who just came back from work. Karen has a bottle of wine from one of her customers and asks if MC would like to drink with her and she agrees to have a bit. They end up finishing the bottle and Karen falls asleep at the dining table.
MC goes to carry Karen back to her room but her bag tips, dropping out a wallet, notebook, make up and a lot of business cards. Lastly, a lighter drops out.

Karen’s lighter
MC returns to the dining room after taking Karen back to her room so she can clean up. Ami comes back (it’s almost 5am!!) and turns out she had gone back to work to finish up some things. MC notes to herself that Ami works super hard and then goes off to bed.
Next morning, MC is getting ready for work after only 2.5 hours of sleep. There’s puddles of water in front of the bathroom sink and she hears a scream from the toilet. She rushes there to find Hime-chan who is pointing at the toilet. MC looks into to find it jammed with a tonne of toilet paper and POO!! (lol “poo” was semi-censored in the JP version haha)
Hime-chan says that it looks like someone clogged the toilet then left it and asks MC if she knows who did it. MC feels that Hime-chan thinks MC did it and adamantly denies it, to which Hime-chan says you wouldn’t seem the type. Hime-chan then sighs and gets to cleaning it up (MC apologies and thanks her, inwardly apologising for not helping out herself)
MC returns to the dining room which should be clean since she cleaned it last night but there are snack wrappers all over the table. The wrappers are from the snacks that Hime-chan likes. The TV in the living room is on too. Karen comes in and comments on how dirty it is. MC notices Karen’s hair is wet and wonders if she washed it (was she the one in the bathroom earlier?). Karen offers to clean it up since MC has to go to work and MC remembers that Karen can wake up early even after drinking heavily the night before (MC is wondering if Karen is the one who made the mess in the kitchen early in the morning).
MC goes to work and her friend Sumika shows her a magazine page. MC says she’ll read it later
Evidence gathered
Magazine page on marriage
MC goes to see a patient to check if she has eaten her meds. She is a bit mischievous as she hides bread in her room. MC finds the meds and bread hidden under her covers but not just that… she finds a water bottle filled with yellow liquid!! The patient has a habit of finding it “too troublesome” to go to the bathroom and… you get the rest (and this isn’t the first time this patient has done this..)
MC runs into Takeshi in the hallway and he wants to apologise to her but she leaves.
After work MC is in her room reading the magazine page that Sumika gave her. She can hear Ami’s voice from next door and it sounds like she’s talking to someone on the phone. “Maybe for work?”, MC thinks. Then MC hears a thump coming from Karen’s room next door. MC then starts smelling smoke and wonders who’s smoking, especially as the smoking space is on the first floor which is quite away from her own room. She thinks she’s just imagining it and makes to go to sleep but then a voice yells
FIRE!!!
EVERYONE RUN!!!
MC flies out of her room.
The next scene everyone is in the living room, after Yuu-kun had put out the fire. Hime-chan and Karen are grateful to Kazemiya-ku for alerting everyone to evacuate from the fire. Yuu-kun comments that it was good the extinguisher was close by but some plants on the balcony got singed. They have to alert the owner about the incident and Kazemiya-kun calls him. Hime-chan says “Mamirin must be busy but he’s coming, huh?”
MC wonders who that is (but we know right?!). After about 30 mins ta-da!:
MC is shocked (because she knows him). He introduces himself to her and MC is thinking inwardly that it’s not a “first meeting” (since they are both yakuza). Haruichi asks the housemates to go over what happened. Kazemiya-kun was the first to notice the smell coming through his open window, and saw the balcony plants on fire. The plants are right outside MC’s room. Haruichi has also heard lately that the house rules haven’t been followed.
MC is aware it looks bad on her as these things started happening shortly after she moved in, as well as the fire happening outside her room. She asks for one hour to figure out the real culprit. MC doesn’t think it is Kazemiya-kun since he wouldn’t have alerted everyone to the fire, nor does she think it is Yuu-kun since he is the one who decided to call Haruichi. Tokiwa-kun wasn’t at home so couldn’t be him. This leaves only Hime-chan, Ami and Karen.
MC arrives at the balcony to look for evidence.
Evidence gathered
Burnt flyer (for Karen’s shop)
Hat (Hime-chan’s)
Milk tea bottle (filled with yellow liquid…)
Cigarettes
Haruichi teases MC by saying that if she correctly finds the culprit he won’t tell the housemates MC’s real identity. MC thinks back on the three girls’ actions and notices something. Such a strange and troublesome action could have only been that one person. Which means all the other happenings were caused by them too?! MC goes to confront the rulebreaker with “no morals.”

DOUBT PART
MC arrives in front of Ami’s room and knocks but she asks her not to enter. Ami comes out and asks what’s going on. MC wants to asks about the rules being broken lately to which Ami says she knows nothing about it.
Q1. You ate this yesterday didn’t you?
A. Snack
B. Sandwich
C. Soup
Answer: C
MC points out that Ami says she had Soup Stack on her FindFriend and the spilled soup in the kitchen was from Soup Stack (see evidence – kitchen sink photo). Ami deflects by saying Soup Stack is a common restaurant that anyone could have gone to.
MC says only Ami could have gone and she asks for proof.
Find proof that only Ami could have bought the soup
Magazine page
The page shows that in there is a Soup Stack in a company dining court in Roppongi Hills that sells the limited edition bowl (lower left corner of page) and normally only company workers would be able to access that dining court. Ami admits that she’s been busy lately and didn’t clean up the soup properly and goes sorry~
MC says it’s appalling that she doesn’t clean up, doesn’t flush the toilet and even started the fire. Ami denies it and says she wouldn’t do that to her home. That she wouldn’t leave snacks unfinished, if the toilet was clogged she’d fix it, that she wouldn’t cause trouble by not putting out a cigarette properly. MC points out that Ami has said something strange just now.
What did Ami say that was suspicious?
A. Cause a disturbance by not putting out cigarette
B. Do her best to unclog the toilet
C. Snacks are delicious
Answer: A
MC points out how did Ami know the fire was started by a cigarette? (as MC hadn’t said) and that it must be because Ami just simply threw away her cigarette. Ami deflects by saying that would be a normal guess given where the fire happened. She says it must be because of someone else like say, Karen since she seems the type to smoke.
MC says to not underestimate her (her trademark line). MC pulls out the pack of cigarettes and says this is yours right and Ami denies smoking (those cigarettes).
Prove Ami threw away the still lit cigarette
Photo of Ami with her friend, smoking
MC shows the photo which shows the same cigarette brand as the one found on the balcony. MC points out it’s a brand sold only in America (and a small brand). Ami admits that she was the one who threw it but that’s it, and the other incidents are MC’s fault and she’s trying to pin it on Ami. MC has had enough.
Ami sweating it up.
FINAL CHOICE
Prove Ami has absolutely zero morals
Milk tea bottle
MC brings out the milk tea bottle which was thrown on the balcony (Ami starts to panic a little and denies it’s hers). It was the milk tea that she bought when they went to the supermarket together with Hime-chan. Ami says anyone could’ve taken it empty and used it. MC offers to take it to the hospital and have it DNA tested and that it was used because the toilet was blocked and unusable sooooo
Ami: NOOOO!!!! STOP!!!
Ami admits having to messed up but says it’s fine to do as she pleases as it’s her home. MC declares her to never underestimate a yakuza woman! and slaps her. Ami runs back to her room screaming Help me!
MC follows and it is an absolute tip. The other members all follow and Haruichi demands an explanation. Ami has been busy and stressed from work lately so hasn’t properly been tidying up. MC says she should lean more on others but Ami sees herself as a “perfect woman” and therefore doesn’t need help. They all offer to help clean her room and she’s surprised, but Karen says we should help each other in times of need. Haruichi agrees to overlook it this time but if things get out of hand again… then well you all understand right? (is what he said)
A few hours later the room is clean and Ami thanks MC for stepping in (otherwise if the situation had gotten out of control the housemates may have come to hate Ami). Ami asks MC about how earlier she said “never underestimate a yakuza woman” and MC lies and says that it’s from a drama she’s been watching lately. MC points out it’s late and runs off to her room and reflects upon Cassie’s words about there being 9 liars and how Ami must be the first and that she’ll have to go through this 8 more times.
It’s Tokiwa-kun who also happens to live here. They all clink their beers together and celebrate. Hime-chan pulls out tarot cards and wants to read MC her fortune. Ami says that they are very accurate.
Hime-chan: It’s appeared!! From here on out there’s going to be a lot of bad happenings but at the end of it all you’ll find your happiness.
Hime-chan says it’s the first time she’s pulled that card and next time she’ll take MC to see another fortune teller. MC reflects on how this day has been the worst but she will work hard to make the dream that she’s had since young to come true. She will absolutely achieve “ordinary happiness.”
