Sweet & Strong Red Ribbon Dads: Paul, Doug, and Drew talk about fatherhood during quarantine
It doesn’t come as a surprise that many people rely on the strength of their fathers as the heads of the family. Some fathers may be goofy, and some may be quiet, but one thing is for sure – dads have that natural ability to bring out the warmest smiles and unyielding courage in everybody within the family.
And as we navigate through this trying time, we see our dads carrying on and exhibiting…

Doug Kramer reveals to have suffered mild stroke, will sit out for 3-6 months
From Doug Kramer’s Instagram account Veteran big man Doug Kramer revealed that he had a mild stroke last October and will need to rest for three to six months before returning to the court. In a lengthy Instagram post, Kramer detailed his ordeal which he didn’t publicize until Wednesday. “Oct 10 I had a mild stroke after doing an exercise at home. I felt extreme dizziness and lost my balance. I never passed out or fainted. In fact I remember everything that happened clearly. I was confined in the hospital for 6 days. After the results of the MRI were found, the cause of the mild stroke was the priority. I was thinking how could a healthy guy like me go through something like this at such an early age,” said the 33-year-old Kramer who is currently a member of the Phoenix Fuel Masters. Upon examination by doctors, Kramer was diagnosed with a “miniscule congenital hole” in his heart. He underwent surgery to close the hole and was discharged on October 15. Kramer, whose “Team Kramer” family is a social media star, admitted being worried about the future of his loved ones after learning his condition. “When all of this happened, I really thought of my family. How Chesca had to take care of me, and thinking Kendra, Scarlett and Gavin are still so young. I’m so blessed that through modern technology and great doctors, I’m able to still play in the right time and most importantly to still enjoy every moment with my beautiful family,” he said. Kramer said he wants to suggest to the PBA to include echocardiography in players’ mandatory medical checkups to detect complications involving the heart which “can definitely save a person’s life once you’ve found out early.” Known as a bruiser inside, Kramer entered the PBA in 2007 after a stellar career at Ateneo. He has bounced around in the league, and during the off-season was traded by GlobalPort to Phoenix. http://j.mp/2gj79Md
Phoenix, GlobalPort agree to Doug Kramer-Mick Pennisi swap
PBA Media Bureau The Phoenix Fuel Masters and the GlobalPort Batang Pier on Friday completed a straight-up deal that saw veteran big men Mick Pennisi and Doug Kramer change teams more than a week before the start of the new PBA season. Veteran bruiser Kramer will be joining his eighth team in Phoenix which is looking to make a splash in its first Philippine Cup appearance. The 6’4″ power forward had averages of 4.95 points and 6.24 rebounds with GlobalPort last season. The deal paved the way for Kramer’s reunion with old Ateneo teammate JC Intal who is one of Phoenix’s cornerstones. Meanwhile, GlobalPort added 41-year-old Pennisi who despite his age remains a threat from the outside. The 6’11″ center, now on his seventh team, posted averages of 5.11 points and 3.17 rebounds last season. http://j.mp/2fWpzDo

PBA stars recall Halloween memories
Alaska guard Chris Banchero (right), who once dressed up as former US President Bill Clinton for Halloween, tries to get past Blackwater’s Jerick Cañada during their game on Friday. Tristan Tamayo/INQUIRER.net Dressing up as a superhero, cartoon character or celebrity for a night during Halloween has been a yearly thing here. The PBA made sure its fans wont’t miss out on the Halloween craze with the league holding a trick-or-treat event apart from its double-header over the weekend. Kids showed up in different costumes but it wasn’t just them who enjoy Halloween night with the PBA stars themselves admit that they also have their own unforgettable Halloween experience. Talk ’N Text rookie Mo Tautuaa remembered Halloween as one of his best times in college. “We had an anything-but-clothes party and I was running around in a loincloth. It was like a toga party and it’s a lot of fun,” said Tautuaa. But unlike most kids, Tautuaa’s trick-or-treating days didn’t last long. “I’ve always had a beard so I look a lot older. My trick or treating days got cut a little earlier at the most,” he said. That wasn’t the case for Jay Washington, who had a go-to costume whenever that time of the year comes. “I remember running around as Jason from Friday the 13th for three or four years straight, using the same mask, causing ruckus, stealing candies, and egging houses. It’s a lot of fun,” said the GlobalPort forward. Far removed from his college days, Washington said he’s now trying to let his kids have the kind of Halloween he had even though it’s a bit different from what he experienced. “It’s a little different here, a little more tame. But we go trick-or-treating and (my son) dressed up as Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas this year,” Washington said while showing off the intricate makeup his son wore for the parties. Alaska guard Chris Banchero also couldn’t forget his Halloween moments. “I love Halloween. Everybody loves to trick-or-treat. It’s a good time to go out door to door looking for candies,” he said. “I was Bill Clinton at one point. I had a mask, a cigar, and I dressed up with a suit. It was a lot of fun.” Doug Kramer’s kids also did not miss the celebration as the proud father of three shared his children’s outfits this year. “Hotel Transylvania-themed, so parang vampires,” the GlobalPort big man said.
