Have you ever considered that the workaholic, strict, conservative, playboy, uber rich/attractive types in kdramas might not actually like their love interest? They only pursue them because they are usually never romantically rejected. Therefore they persistently pursue that person because their egos have been bruised and they develop a masochistic enjoyment out of the adrenal thrill they get from rejection.
If the doughnut man rejected them they’d probably obsess over it and eventually try to find out why. Which could result in either using their power to destroy someone who has defied them or start spending so much time with the doughnut man to figure out why he doesn’t like them or what is different about the doughnut man that causes him not to like them until their constant close proximities trick them into thinking they may like each other.
