He quickly kissed her as the clock struck midnight, suppressing a smile.

She scowled faintly into the kiss, but slowly returned it. "I don't know why you're so happy. It's a year closer to your death."

Brushing a strand of hair behind her ear she fought to fight back the smile. He still comes to say hi. It almost made her feel guilty for always ignoring him. Springing forward, her arms wrapped around his neck; kissing him.

"Absolutely not," she bit her tongue, forcing down the response to just push him away again. The longing for him to be here grew stronger, but as always, she wouldn't dare return an ounce of the affection. "Just go sit somewhere in my chambers and try not to waste your last roomful of air."

"Merry Christmas," she snapped back. The day held no joy for her like for most humans. If anything she  seemed even more hostile today than those leading up to it. "Is there something you actually needed? A gift? Yes I got you one. If you have one for me I don't want it."

Stepping closer, his gaze hardened. "Enough lying. Something's wrong. VLaDOS told me you're... you're sick." He faltered for a moment then went on one knee, taking her hands and pulling her toward him. "Please."

Optics widened, but were quick to narrow. "..." She felt conflicted on what to say to him. She had just told him to leave, but at the same time the thought of him leaving again unnerved her. Doug was hers, even if she didn't exactly enjoy him constantly hovering around her. "I'm not sick. If anything it would be close to a virus but I lack the immune system to get sick. Let go of me."
