Hello, this is Oguri Shun. I am portraying the main character Sakata Gintoki. Gintama movie is about to be released tomorrow! Please come laugh, cry, and feel the heat.

In case anyone is new to the fandom, just want to flag that Doumoto Tsuyoshi, who is portraying Takasugi Shinsuke, is actually quite a popular idol. The reason he is absent from promotions is multifold: 1) Johnny's Entertainment is famously behind the times and prohibits most media outlets including social media from using images of artists signed under them. 2) He currently has a busy schedule and hasn't been able to attend some events due to clashes (I don't follow Kinki Kids news but as I understand, 24-hr TV and Miman City were prepping at about the same time the promotions for Gintama were going). 3) He recently got admitted for a short stint in hospital due to acute hearing loss.

The entire show is incredibly fun xD But, the part that features Captain starts at 7:03.

Perhaps one of my biggest pet peeves is people implying that Captain is this broody, moody diva, who is always in a bad mood about everything. Even according to the SMAP members themselves, Captain is actually one of the friendlier, more sociable and more accommodating members of the group. And, that's not even adding on the numerous stories and reports from celebrities and common people alike about Captain's kindness and warmth behind the scenes.

This is one such clip that showcases this. In this section, Tsuyoshi-kun (along with the members of the variety duo Cream Stew and Satou Tamao-chan) have to call someone on their personal contact list. A random number is announced, and they have to call that specific person on their list. Of course, the person on the other end has no idea that they're going to be called. 

In this episode, it is implied that it was filmed quite early in the morning, and the person that Tsuyoshi-kun ended up having to call was Captain.

My personal highlights of this moment:

1. Tsuyoshi-kun's initial call to Captain went into voicemail. But, just as everyone was all, "Ah~ That's too bad. I would've loved to hear his voice.", Captain actually returned the call.

2. Captain knowing the name of channel (TV Asahi) and the name of the game corner when Tsuyoshi-kun mentions that his voice is being featured on "Shoujiki Shindoi". 

3. And then, whole-heartedly participating even though he's in the middle of his morning break. 

4. Also, when Tsuyoshi-kun passes the phone on to Arita-san, Captain eases the flow of the conversation with the knowledge he has of Arita-san and his television programmes.

5. And, at the end, when Tsuyoshi-kun apologises for the random phone call, Captain's just like, "Nah, it's fine." Then, he takes the time to ask Tsuyoshi-kun to pass on the message of "yoroshiku" to Cream Stew.
