I think the most valuable approach to literature I ever learned was actually from my religious studies classes. The idea of a world behind the text, a world within the text, and a world in front of the text is pretty much always applicable and allows for some really nuanced readings.

Pros

Get a master’s from Yale

Spend another year studying religion at the graduate level

Be around cool people who geek out to the stuff I geek out to

Chance to work in academia

Cons

Spend a bunch of money on moving, tuition, etc

Would have to live in New Haven

The job market in academia is terrible

Academia is bullshit and oppressive

Risk of being hospitalized at Yale Psychiatric

Update on my academic life

There’s a student @baileyeverywhere calls “enlightenment project boy” who talks in this academic style he’s clearly been trained to talk in that comes off as hella pedantic, deliberate, and pompous and he’s probably a great person when not talking in that style but when he is it’s so annoying.
