You know, I watched all of Supernatural. I don’t know how many of you have watched that show, but the writers knew exactly what the people wanted. Does that mean they always delivered? No. But did they do a hell of a lot of good with that information? Yep. You wanna know why? They were watching the fandom. They read the fanfic and looked at the art. They knew what people responded to.
Does Julian Fellows have anyone, anyone at all, doing that? Because nine times out of ten when I watch a Downton cast interview it’s done and reviewed by people who are drawn to the big names but probably haven’t watched it all, and those aren’t the people who will understand the hard-hitters in the story. Because if any one person in Fellows’s circle looked at AO3, or social media, or art, or bloggers, or hell, the trailer reactions for the first film, they’d know that cutting the only really, consistently good and favorite storyline from the continuing story was utter bullshit.
