Oh I have seen it, only when it aired on TV. With the other episodes I rewatched during the run but I just couldn’t do it with 5.8, so this is just the second time I’ve seen this episode. I still started sweating and got shaky, whoops. But at least it’s done now and the CS isn’t far off.

Tbh, and this is not to demise the happiness of the Chelsie fandom, I think Fellowes knows he fucked up with Anna/Bates and plans to do much worse (if we go on with the idea that Bates will testify to save Anna). So to distract the fans Fellowes makes the Chelsie proposal (something fans have been wanting for so long) happen, along with some cute Molesley/Baxter romance.
I think he is just trying to make everyone feel happy and fuzzy for Christmas to distract them from how bad he messed up with Banna.
