25th - 30th January 1859
Tuesday 25: Princess Royal's wedding day. Grand concert at Crystal Palace to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Poet Burns. The G J Company awarded a purse of 50 guineas to a scotch lady Isa Craig for the best Ode to the Poet's memory. There were 621 Competitors.
Wednesday 26: Charlotte Jane had to teeth taken out on account of more coming behind them.
Thursday 27: Princess Royal gives birth to a son, Queen Victoria becomes a Grandmama. Mrs. G. Clare married to Mr. Clarke of Clanfield.
Friday 28: Received 4.5 gallons of beer from Mr. Goodwin.
Sunday 30: Sunday - Dr. Pusey preached the University sermon at Christ Church. Collections in aid of the Parish Schools of St. Peter-Le-Bailey.

Prince Napoleon Bonaparte married to Princess Clotilde, daughter of Victor Emanuel, King of Sardinia.
25 - The Princess Royal married in 1858 - CH seems to just be commemorating the joyous day. More interestingly, Isa Craig, the poet mentioned, has been described as a "Victorian social reformer, women's rights activist, journalist, poet and novelist". The linked articles are well worth a read.
27 - The proud grandmama's grandson went on to be Kaiser Wilhelm of WWI fame. I'm going to assume that Mrs Clare and Mr Clarke were pals of the Acotts'.
30 - Dr. Pusey was part of the Oxford Movement, a group of clergymen at Oxford University in the 1830s who sought to restore Catholic faith and practice within the Anglican church.
