Compline and the harrowing storyline (which has now reached its apex through either a harrowing birth scene or some other medical procedure) are now interspersed in a way that is troublingly close to saying suffering is fine actually because Jesus.

Sheelagh: Oh Patrick

The harrowing storyline is now resolved, often with some more voiceover that references the vagaries of the turning world

Dr Patrick Turner from call the midwife is one of the most whumpable men in television hear me out:

We’ve got:

-War Neurosis that it’s implied he’s never properly dealt with

-tendency to place others’ needs over his own

-does not have great work/ home boundaries

-lots of other trauma that the show writers seem to forget about often (um… Timothy’s polio, train crash, thalidomide, his first wife’s death, the WAR??? Just to name a few)

-is a very good doctor that canonically makes a very bad patient (S4ep5 hello)

I do love slow burn romances.

I so want Audrey and Siegfried (ACGAS) to be like Sister Bernadette and Dr Turner (Call the Midwife).

The barriers are different, but the acting is superb.
