The AAT Project: Exclusive interview with Dr. Bill Dorfman
Q. You’ve had a brilliant career. Tell us a little bit about some of the things that you’ve done
A: one of the things that influenced my career most was going to a two-year residency program in Swiss Dental Clinic that serves under privileged people. From this experience, I was motivated to establish a practice in dentistry in California. I’ve have been doing this for 28 years now.
Seven years ago, I co-founded the LEAP foundation, a non-profit motivational leadership program for high school and college students. I actually have a Guinness book record of raising the most money for ‘shaving head’ for LEAP foundation.
I am also a proud father of three beautiful girls, which is my greatest accomplishment.
Q. What are you most passionate about in life?
A: I am passionate about helping people, but I’m most passionate about my family. They are the most important part of my life.
Q. You have sold your company; how has that changed your life?
A: 10, 10, 2010 at exactly 10 am I sold my company.
This number is significant because LEAP kids have the perfect 10 days while they are at camp. Selling the company gave me the ability to focus more on things that are important to me, like LEAP. I’d also been able to build a dental clinic in the Dominican Republic for people in need.
Q. Can you tell us about LEAP Foundation, and what it is about?
A: LEAP is a non-profit foundation that Annually organizes a youth leadership program held at UCLA. Hundreds of students travel from across the globe to attend LEAP’s weeklong program dedicated to helping young adults professional and personal success by teaching them about goal setting, mentorship, self-motivation, professionalism, and effective communication skills
Q. What drives you to give back as you do?
A: There is a saying, “He who gives receives the greatest gift.” It’s true. When you see these kids growing, that’s the greatest reward that I can imagine.
Q. What would you say is the most important aspect of being a good leader?
A: A good leader is someone who can actually be able to “walk the walk that they talk”
Q. How did you get involved with The AAT Project?
A: I got involved with The AAT Project through Nan, your founder. We’ve been friends for close to 20 years. She’s been like a mentor to me in the entertainment sector.
She kept me in the loop as the project developed and I am thrilled to see its growth process and be able to participate on their advisory board and as a mentor.
Q. What do you love most about The AAT Project?
A: I love The AAT Project because they are discovering the most amazing kids in world. What is unique about The AAT project is that they’re growing young leaders.
Q. Do you have any words of advice for our young amazing teens?
A: Experience life, get involved.
Q. Do you have a quote you live-by?
A: “If we don’t leave this world a better place for having been there, then what’s the sense in having been there?"

Be my doctor please
Randy/William Slam Poetry 11-1-12
W: Walking slowly, palms out.
Keep your distance because my heart's got fight.
R: Discouraged from flight.
I wonder why they don't
stop me from wandering through the night.
W: The flight was my hope
and now I'm full of broken dreams
Walking in the night
in search of something
Full fire but no wood to sustain.
R: Broken dreams
sustained by flames' rage.
And I wonder when to turn to the next page.
Wandering through days.
If all is right,
on fall nights,
leaves change in exchange for my pain.
