Ducati's Potential New Owner wants Triumph Out of Moto 2
The Audi Group is reportedly considering selling Ducati as part of the cost-cutting measures being implemented by its parent company, Volkswagen. Ducati is reportedly being targeted for a potential sale to Patritalia for around €2.5 billion. The proposed new owner would aim to return Ducati to fully Italian ownership, while also reportedly seeking to acquire MV Agusta.
Furthermore, Patritalia owner Manuel Ros reportedly wants to enter the moto 2 championship as an engine supplier. If the plan were to materialise, Patritalia could eventually challenge Triumph, which has been the sole engine supplier for moto 2 for several years.
However, it is important to note that becoming an engine supplier is not simply a decision made by a manufacturer. The championship organisers ultimately decide which manufacturer supplies the engines for each class. Therefore, even if Patritalia were to acquire Ducati and develop a moto 2 engine, it would still need approval from the championship organisers before becoming an official supplier.
