the thing is we have dark, broody, morally ambiguous, tortured, and conflicted Superman in the DC universe.
but the snyderbros would not want him.
because he is gay.
gay and canonically and legally married to his batshit insane borderline psychotic brother in arms Dr. Midnighter.
and they would hate how much better that makes him as a character.
not because of the gay part (tho that is a win in my book, go gays go), but on the morally ambiguous conflicted part. Dr. Midnighter being part of Apollo's OG squad and thus being the only surviving person to know the human Apollo is what makes their history together and their relationship so good for God V.S Humanity storylines.
and the snyderbros can never understand that.
