Lullabies || 'drabble'

"Mei," a child's voice rasped. Little hands shook her awake. "Hey, Mei..."

Eventually, her eyes opened. It took a bit for them to adjust to the darkness; it must have been around midnight. In other words, way too early (late?) for a little kid to be awake. Yawning, Mei sat up slowly. Her twin was sitting up in their bed, face all scrunched up funny. "Huh..?"

"I can't sleep. I didn't wanna wake mama or Aniki up... I might get in trouble for not sleeping." Yong Soo's brown eyes shimmered in the moonlight.

Mei frowned. "But I didn't wanna wake up yet..."

"But I can't sleep!" His voice had reached a harsh whisper as he flailed his arms in irritation.

"Shh! Okay, lay down. I can sing you a lullaby like Aniki does!"

There was a soft rustling as the child did as he was told, making sure that he was extra comfy before lying still once again. Only when he finished did his sister lay back down again. Softly, she began to sing.

"Zhe lü dao xiang yi zhi chuan, zai yue ye li yao ya yao..."

Some of the words she stumbled on, but she managed to keep the melody the same. It really was a pretty song. Yong Soo matched his breathing to its rhythm. A little sense of serenity settled over him. Yes, maybe he'd fall asleep like this...

Halfway through the song, her voice slowly began to fade. When he noticed the silence, and figured out that he was not yet dreaming, Yong Soo cracked an eye open. "Mei..?" he called tentatively.

His sister's even breathing filled the air. She had fallen asleep before he did! Yong Soo almost groaned. "Mei, that's not fair..! Aww, Mei..." He was so not playing with her tomorrow.

AU where they’re knights of the round table

Whispers mixed in with the sound of metal clanging lightly as the knights filtered into the room, each one of them taking a spot somewhere around the table. Every now and then, they’d cast a glance back at a smaller figure.

Who let a girl have a sword? And a child!

Has Arthur gone mad? Dainty little thing might faint at the first sight of blood.

Lilja shifted nervously under their gaze, the space in the spot she had claimed for herself suddenly shrinking between two other knights. She squeezed in closer to the table so she wouldn’t get left out. The whispers continued.

We’re going to have a handful of us stand by to protect her each time we go out to battle.

She should go back to her dollies and dresses.

Her expression soured. Hadn’t they seen her in the fight just now? She could hold he She was about to talk back when someone beat her to it.

"Didn’t you all take the oath, promising chivalry?” a voice snapped, silencing the rest of them. All eyes turned to a young blond, Feliks, standing on a different end of the table with a scowl. “What should it matter if she’s a girl; from what I’ve seen she can fight as well as each of us here.”

At this point, King Arthur himself walked into the room, and the meeting begun as if nothing had happened.

Watching ((yes I am trying to start a chain of Hetaoni AU drabbles so with that in mind have fun.))

(Watching - basically Feliks gets to watch Toris die.)

It had been a while since Toris and Feliks had seen anyone else, or so they thought, anyway. Time was such an abstract thing here; for all they knew, they could have been trapped in this miserable mansion for an hour rather than what felt like a century.

They refused to consider the option that the remaining group had died, however. No, they were going to get out together, without losing anyone else …

"You should sleep now, Feliks," Toris insisted. "You can’t keep watch all the time, even if you do have more energy than I do.” “Fine. Just for a few minutes, then,” Feliks lay down on the floor and closed his eyes. Sleep came easily. There was no dream, just an oddly comforting darkness.

Eventually, something woke him up. Groggily, he sat up. He’d slept for too long, he could feel it.

"Hey, Tor, you were supposed-"

He stopped dead.

The Thing.

It was here.

And it had Toris in its big, ugly hands.

He couldn’t say anything, couldn’t do anything, couldn’t see anything but what was in front of him. He could only watch, green eyes wide and frozen in absolute horror.

No.

This can’t be happening.

Time slowed down. It was as if he were watching the scene in its entirety frame by frame, second by second - every minute detail. The intent darkness in the thing’s soulless orbs. Toris’ eyes closing.  Hands tightening on Toris’ body. Silent final words. 

And suddenly, a sickening crack. Body gone limp. Blood everywhere.

"Feliks, Toris—!" Someone came rushing in, scared away the Thing momentarily. Someone ushered him out. He didn’t know who it was. He was still stuck in that moment. 

Toris was gone forever.

Game

((it takes up space so it’s under read more))

A grayish light filtered into the room where two figures sat - well, one had lazily draped himself over the coffee table and the other lounged on the sofa with a book. There was no sound other than the soft pitter patter of rain against the windows and the occasional flip of a page. Suddenly, Feliks got up noisily and left the room, closing the door behind him. Lilja glanced up for a second before returning to her reading.

Two chapters later, the door opened just a crack; the young emperor had returned.

"Hey. Lilja."

Silence. The door creaked open a bit more.

"Heeeey. Liiiilja."

Slightly irritated silence. And the door opened more.

"Liiiljaaaaa. Heeeeeeeey."

A more irritated silence. The door was all the way open now.

"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey, Lii-" 

Finally, the female in question looked up with a sour look. “What?”

Feliks grinned. “Let’s play a game.”

 ”I don’t want to,” the girl responded, although he was already coming over to her, a noticeable bounce in his step. He grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the room, despite her protests. This was not a good place to stop reading; the last chapter had ended in a cliffhanger!

"C’mon, it’s gonna be fun~!" he assured her, as he navigated through several hallways. When they’d reached the grand staircase, the double one near the entrance, the first thing she noticed were the mattresses, some off to the side and one strategically placed so that it would slide down the steps if pushed. Is that what I think it is?

Lilja tried to back up. “I’m not going to-“

"Too bad!" Feliks pushed her onto the mattress, and off she went, sliding down the stairs and screaming her head off. He laughed heartily before throwing another mattress down and surfing down the staircase, grinning the whole way down.

When he’d reached the ground floor, he smirked at Lilja.

"That wasn’t fun."

"Maybe if you didn’t scream so much you’d have fun, ya wimp," he taunted before turning to run back up the stairs, leaving the mattress and Lilja behind. "When you’re done being LAME, come up and race me!”

'Course, Lilja wasn't about to let him get away with that. “You're on, skithael,” she accepted, following close behind him.

Movie • drabble • gypsychen

"Brought the popcorn," Anya said, strolling back towards the couch where an excited Julchen sat. She set the bowl of newly-popped popcorn down on the table in front of them before taking a seat next to the other girl. For once, they weren't scheming anything. It was just a simple movie night.

As the beginning title proclaiming STUDIO GHIBLI faded into view, Anya began, "So, which movie did you-"

"SHHH!" Julchen interjected, as the movie started. The screen went foggy. You could hear puffs of steam and a distant groan of gears, as if an enormous, ancient machine was moving . . . Sure enough, a large figure emerged from the fog.

As the movie went on, Julchen remained focused on the television, her vermillion eyes filled with wonder as the wizard and lead girl (currently in the form of an old woman) were surrounded by little beings. The wizard began to morph into some kind of feathered creature . . .

"OH NO," Julchen shouted, startling Anya a bit. "I really hate the queen. Why would she do this to him?!"

"I have to agree wit-"

"SHH."

"..."

On screen, their beloved protagonists managed to escape. "YES! GO GO GO GO GO," Julchen chanted beside her as they escaped the queen's castle. Anya chuckled a bit at how the enthusiastic the other one was about the movie. Julchen wasn't even touching the popcorn, much too tuned in. 

By the end, they were both getting emotional - though one more than the other.

"That was beautifully made," Anya said, rubbing her eyes and flicking on the lights.

"Yeah," Julchen smiled. "We should do it again sometime."

"Yeah, that would be nice."
