Love Is a Thing of Chains
Love is a thing of heavy iron chains. Relentless and merciless. It binds two things until they grow and become one. For better or worse. Talia never wanted love. She saw it dismember her best friend Lilyna in childhood, watched it help light his own stake for Ghetsis, turn her mothers heart black with longing, her father into an imbecile, Elegal into a lunatic and Shai'a'in into a pet. Love was a useless terrible thing that accompanied men and mer. It had no place. It turned good men to fools and made fools try to be good men. And it hurt her that she felt nothing when so many clearly reveled in love. Oblivion! Nearly every song the bards sang was about love or war or a mixture of the two. Love must have been a beautiful thing to experience. But it was a damn thing to watch. And because she cared for him, she would not let Shai fall into that trap and become incapacitated. Love is a thing of chains. Love is a thing of chains. Love is a thing of chains. Love is a thing of chains. And nothing no matter what it ever had done in it's life ever deserved to be chained. Especially to her.
