Bertholdt's never been in summer school before. Even though he's only going so he can graduate early, he's still put in a classroom with the kids there for... other reasons.
He sits near the back of the class, not wanting to draw attention to himself. Just as the bell rings, he sees her. Annie Leonhardt walks in the classroom like she owns the damn place, scanning the room for a seat. Her eyes fall on Bert.
She comes to sit right beside him, a wicked grin on her face. "The name's Annie," she tells him, leaning back in her chair. "And you are?"
"B-Bertholdt Hoover."
"Well then, Bertholdt Hoover, I think we're gonna have a lot of fun this summer."
