🔥 : do they crave intensity or stability?
SYMBOL HEADCANON QUESTIONS.
When I tell you that stability would be so boring for her. Which is common for a lot of BPD people tbh. Stability is unknown and if she had it for too long she would feel unsettled in her bones and would start lashing out at her environment just to sate the craving for chaos. When your life has majority been spent in danger the calm always feels like "the calm before the storm" and you sit braced for the storm more than anything. At least with IN the storm you're in the element you know. At least IN the storm you can navigate something you're used to. When it's stable, when it's calm it just feels like that insufferable anxiety where you're waiting for the other shoe to drop.
You can never fully settle into a calm because you're always looking for it to end. It can get so heavy that you just sabotage it yourself to make it more palatable for your nervous system. Katherine is the same. It's why she took risks in 1864 because she was happy, she was content, for all intents and purposes she could have stayed there a lot longer if she'd continued her low key living (AND THE FUCKING LOCKWOOD ASS WASNT FUCKING EVERYTHING UP TOO) but she played games that threatened that content.
Thats why a lot of the time in the verse built up over 3 years with @deceptivemorals , even though shes made a LOT of progress with him she STILL will pick fights or over react to something stupid and that's because he's provided her mostly with a stable environment and she doesn't sit in those well. She runs or picks fights.
Its absolutely no different in any long term relationship with Katherine and her 3 boys. She starts to feel too comfortable she will pick fights.
