PP - in your post about this Doctor Who finale, you say your theory and items from original Who with the Doctor being non Gallifreyan from a different universe and.... Basically can you elaborate? As I wasn't that surprised by the finale but felt vindicated .. things such as how the Doctor was always gently handled and got away with so many things which had bugged me. But please proof to throw at the "they ruined Who" neanderthals?
Well, first of all it should be noted that the specifics are different even if the outcome is the same. I’m too sleepy to give very complete accounts, but:
The Other was a mysterious stranger whose origins are unknown, and is one of the founders of Time Lord society. He had a granddaughter named Susan. He committed suicide by way of Looms (the machines that create Gallifreyans -- think how Jenny was created), and his biodata was torn apart, and then much later reloomed as the Doctor. Who went and picked up Susan again, who recognised him as her grandfather.
And then there’s... bigger ‘laws of the universe’ stuff, like:
“The Greater Old Ones that were High Council of the Old Time Lords [of the previous universe, before this one] become elemental forces and an integral part of the new Universe. Together they are the Six-Fold God known as the Grace. The Six-Fold God is made up of six hyper-dimensional Guardians: Light (Structure / White), Chaos (Entropy / Black), Justice (Red), Dreams (the Toymaker/Crystal), and the twins: Equilibrium (Azure), and Life (Gold).”
You see the White and Black Guardians and the Toymaker in Classic Who. They also represent dimensions of the universe. There’s unofficial accounts saying that the Doctor is the Red Guardian, of justice and morality, and a constant of the universe. Actual TV canon says the Doctor is probably a Great Old One.
(Also sidenote, but this is where “The Doctor is Nyarlathotep” comes in.)
I sort of just recommend you delve into this, and then trawl the Tardis wiki for details on the different things.
Because the Doctor is a constant of the TV show, and represents certain things, I really like the worldbuilding that they are such an integral force, wrapped up inside a body that still has thoughts and feelings. I personally don’t need the Doctor to be that relatable, that’s the companions job.
