I watched the video of Rachel getting hounded by the paps at the airport to, it was so horrible how they asked that about Ryan though, I mean that was just plain rude but then again, paps are the most rude people to walk this earth in my opinion. What did you think about the vid?
I have a really strange relationship with paparazzi pics/videos. I really enjoy getting to see candids of our favorites out and about and living their real lives (it’s so much fun, for Rachel in particular, to see what sorts of kooky ensembles she’s wearing— she has the most interesting wardrobe choices sometimes!), but I wish the photographers would just take the pics/video for thirty seconds from across the street and then move on. The fact that they intentionally try to antagonize celebrities is pretty frustrating and flat-out WRONG to me. They try to get a “scoop” so they can sell their video or photos for more, but I think paparazzi, in general, don’t stop to remember that celebrities are people too. To an extent, a person signs up for a little privacy invasion when they get into the movie business, but I don’t think harassment is part of that agreement at all.
Plus, Rachel is obviously really uncomfortable with that whole thing. There are multiple videos on YouTube of her showcasing how uncomfortable she is in both premiere situations as well as in paparazzi situations, so while I love getting the pics of her out and about, being actually harassed is not okay with me, or probably most anyone. And that’s what it looked like was happening to me in this particular video— flat out harassment. There was nothing friendly about the way he was asking her about Ryan, and from what I could tell, even the lady in the beginning was just someone trying to help Rachel out and not a person she actually knew. It sort of speaks for itself in that way— the paparazzi harassing her was even making other people uncomfortable enough to step in, so it was definitely taken too far.
Like I said, I love seeing the photos— I publish them here on the blog pretty regularly and I don’t think not publishing them would do anything at all in the way of having paparazzi lay off. But it’s definitely a reality check when you see just how horrible the photographers are and how uncomfortable the celebrities can get when the videos hit YouTube. I just really wish there was a happy medium.
I hope it’s okay that I publish this! x
