So I've been trying to contribute to the Batjokes nation more so here's a thing I would like to discuss.
I've seen people talking about how they would like to see Batjokes shown in canon and how they want it to be heavily implied but acknowledged and I think that the fun part about the DC lore is that nothing has to be connected to anything else. We could make Dracze's "Halfway Across" into a canon comic and just say that it's its own thing and nobody would blink an eye (Except for the homophobes maybe).
I think we could have anything we wanted and I think that it would be beneficial to let it be completely canon to help extinguish the "homophobic nightmare" legacy that DC has. Yes, they've gotten better, but it's still not as good as it could be. A canon batjokes story could help with that.
Plus there's Joker's history as a queer coded character. If DC decides to add Batjokes to the comic lore, then it will cement the DECADES of queer coding that has been given to the Joker. It will hopefully get rid of some of the prejudice and hatred behind queer coding a villain.
And then it would make a route for HUNDREDS of other stories. DC is by FAR nowhere near running out of Batman stories, but i think that it could open the doors for other ideas like battybrownboo's "As We Go Along" or, as previously mentioned, Dracze's "Halfway Across"
They could still have heavily implied batjokes in comics like certain writers like Grant Morrison or Sean Murphy have been doing (but not really Sean Murphy anymore but that's a different rant)
And hell, they could even make Joker bi and I wouldn't care all that much because at least they're acknowledging that he is somewhat queer. I think that Jack Napier from the White Knight series is bi and that Joker from "Suicide Squad" is as well. And I love both versions of the character.
TLDR: having batjokes officially in the comics wouldn't be completely terrible, but I can see where people are coming from.
