[HMMMMM might have an idea]
@shlms, @governmentofficial || A drabble for the AU where Danny is Mycroft’s son.
This was a wrench thrown into his morning routine. Danny had learned the day previous that he was not to move furniture to help accomplish a task, even temporarily. The chances of getting it put back in exactly the right place would be difficult enough and Sherlock was rather adept at noticing if he had, anyways. Normally, he had a cup of tea as soon as he woke up. Every morning.
Usually there was no rule against moving a chair or even climbing onto the counter to accomplish the task of getting to the kettle - the problem being, this place had a gas stove as opposed to an electric and a dedicated tea kettle of its own internal source was not available. Both Sherlock and John remained asleep still - another break in routine. The boy had managed to locate a ceramic mug and the sachets, but alas, without boiling water no tea could be made unless he resorted to a cold brew which simply wasn't quite right for when you're just waking up.
He didn't trust to attempt climbing the counter, not here - there was a myriad of clutter around which likely fell under the same rule against moving furniture. Baker Street had a chaos to its arrangement, but there was method to it that demanded to be left to its state. No, if he wanted his cup of tea he would have to manage some help. But who to ask after? Mrs. Hudson was nowhere to be seen, and both tenants of 221B were still asleep.
His method now was to figure out who to seek out. A sheet of blank paper was retrieved from his things out of the notebook he had brought along, intended to be for notetaking - which he was doing dutifully, mind you, he simply had more pages than would be necessary over the course of his few days staying with his uncle while Mycroft attended to a matter which called him out of town for the rest of the week. He had some maths to do.
Routines were something Danny picked up on easily, and were thus the first thing his notes had outlined. Dr. Watson had been the last to head to bed, editing a draft for his blog and leaving him an hour and forty minutes to bed later than his usual drift to sleep. Sherlocks retire had come only a half hour later than it had a few days earlier. Daniel had stirred at the motion in the flat just enough to note the exact times. Given that it takes the average person roughly fourteen minutes after beginning their attempt to fall asleep he could calculate where either one of the adults would be in their sleep cycles.
Wait. There were two schools of thought when it came to sleep cycles, and both had significant study results - both agreed on ninety minute intervals. The difference lie in whether the REM cycle existed within or stand-alone from those cycles with the one believing them to be without that REM cycles took up a longer period of time. From the times he noted at the top of the page, the first labelled S, the other W, he began to draw two lines of potential times to map where in each cycle Sherlock and John would have gone over the course of the night. Through both of the proposed theories on how said cycles worked.
By the time he had finished drawing the four sets of calculations, which took roughly eight minutes to parse through, it turned out if he had wanted to wake John he had missed the window in the latter school by twelve minutes and would only have a few left in the former school. Sherlock however, had a good twenty minutes remaining according to both schools of cycle in which waking him would not interrupt the REM portion of a sleep cycle.
Satisfied with his work, the notebook was left on the side table beside Sherlock's chair and he padded towards his uncle's bedroom and knocked on the door. No answer. If Sherlock was one to talk in his sleep, any noise coming from within would tell him his calculations were wrong but no- silence. After a moment he pushed open the door and moved to the bedside to start gently shaking the man's arm.

my opinion on;
character in general: Well, Cloud is Cloud. Haha, see what I did there? Seriously, though I love Cloud, especially when he’s not just being a whiny dolt.how they play them: Which is 100% not how you play him. He is just as sweet, and naive as you would expect him to be, but not without the edge or darkness that his experiences would have thrust onto him. His inexperience and willingness to learn are extremely endearing. Hopefully Tifa doesn’t have to punch him many more times.the mun: UGH. SUPER SWEETIE. Routinely tags me in random shit, which I love, also calls me by my name (also love) and is just all-around awesome. Let me hold you to my suitably ample bosom and never let you go.
