“Hey guys, I’m back! I brought along some friends. These guys aren’t flyers but they’re great at gliding. They’re mostly hunts smaller animals and yes, they can also eat smaller dragons.”
ok, this game is really satisfying... just flying around is so relaxing for me
... I just need to remember to not try to take gyazo screenshots when it’s running ‘cause that broke something rather badly lol
Regarding the Natural History of Dragons
So I’m still playing Dragon Documentary, and something I noticed while I was playing is that scorched forest can be seen from really high up and really far away- IRL I mean as opposed to in the game. BUT being head-first in dragonskin got me thinking as an ecologist and I’m like
so the odd wildfires are good for forests, they encourage biodiversity and add nitrates into the soil, they burn out all the brush to unclog the lower canopy, generally speaking.
Wildfires can be seen from distances, if not the flames then the smoke caused.
Given the size and assumed longevity of dragons their reproductive cycles could totally sync up with cycles of deliberate, dracopogenic conflagrations. Because what says “I’m a great mating prospect and look at all this fire I can make and all this shit I can burn and how big my territory is” than a big ol’ wildfire.
Also dragons are big apex predators and are (assumed to be) reptilian or saurian in natures, so, like birds do, they keep big territories and need to maintain warm places to bask and so on and smouldering embers are good for that.
Also also
dark age humans in thatched roof cottages
and any human culture that doesn’t build in brick or stone or rock of any sort
is literally just another great big tinderbox target for a dragon to light up in a courtship display.
It’s not the dragon’s fault that the humans march into their territory and set up these great geometric beacons, have the audacity to live in kindling, and then blame the dragon for doing her thing!
Dragon Documentary is a very cool high flying action game that sees you controlling a huge dragon, burning towns, castles and armies with your fiery breath.
Dragon Documentary is still very early in development, so it does have some rough edges, but once you master the controls, it's great fun soaring and scorching your way through the kingdom. Visually it's breathtaking, especially when you take to the air, swooping through valleys and climbing above mountaintops.
The combat could do with a bit of refinement, as at the moment you'll most likely get slaughtered by even a small group of soldiers, but it's still a unique and enjoyable experience being in control of a fire breathing dragon. High flying fiery fun.
