“That’s it?” Barnaby rubbed at his chin, considering, and slowly broke into a grin. Now that Charlie had added in all those little details-- Barnaby could picture Snape’s frown with perfect clarity-- he could see why a silly thing like that could have made the other boy laugh so much.
“Where did you come up with something like that?”
He laughed heartily, grinning. He didn’t completely understand the Gryffindor, but Charlie seemed pretty fun-loving, and it was hard not to like someone who was so interested in dragons and magical creatures. Barnaby might not have spoken to him if Jacob’s sibling hadn’t been their mutual friend, but he was glad they were beginning to get to know each other better now. Breaking away from Merula had certainly given him more opportunity to spend time with interesting non-Slytherins.
“I hope I don’t think about that next Potions class-- Snape yells at me enough already without me laughing at him in the middle of lecture.”
