Dragonfell Chronicles: Notes about the crystals themselves (that is known in canon):

There are 11 known elements with their own corresponding colors. Chaos (Black), Order (White), Fire (Red), Water (Navy blue), Air (Sky blue), Earth (Brown), Nature (Green) Lightning (Yellow), Ice (Pale blue), Mind (Pink), and Rot (Purple)

One born with a crystal is called a Wielder of [element]

Most of the elements have unique ways that they can be used. No two Wielders use their magic in exactly the same way. Example: One Wielder of water may command storms while throwing while themselves into the center of battle, while another may control the very blood found within living creatures to assassinate from the shadows. The limit is the imagination of the individual ((or character creator, lmao))

Crystals can be channeled through weapons or used on their own.

Crystals will often effect anatomy. In dragonborn, this is to an extreme degree (horns, wings, scales, ect) in an average Wielder, this is expressed most often as unnatural colorations. If the Crystals effect the personalities of the Wielders or if the Crystals' magic resonate and are drawn to specific personalities is debated.

Most dragonborn die at birth or when young. With their demi-god blood, they can regenerate from wounds that would kill a regular mortal, but it takes time, especially if the wound is sustained in combat. (Their blood can also be used to heal others in a pinch) They are powerful forces of nature, but suffer health effects whenever their power reaches its peak, mainly internal bleeding. A dragonborn can temporarily transform into nearly a full dragon as they beserk in battle, though this requires enough power that it could straight up kill them. It is also hard to control, and usually requires extreme situations to even trigger in the first place. Most suffer chronic pain in their regular days, made worse the more their abilities are used. A mortal body cannot truly contain a God.

Crystals are directly connected to a Wielders lifeforce. Though extremely hard to break, if they do their Wielder will die or suffer extreme health complications.

Crystals have their own pools of energy, but will start draining lifeforce if depleted and used over their limits

Crystals are very in tune with the emotions of their Wielder. Emotions will often stir the magic even in the most practiced at control.

Crystals pulse gently with their Wielders heartbeat, dim slightly when they sleep, and will shine bright when being used for powerful attacks or when the Wielder feels strong emotion

The Dragonfell Chronicles

explanation thing idk if this is any good but its something if anyone ever gers confused on what im fuckin talking about

NOTE THAT THIS IS ONGOING AND MAY CHANGE BUT HERES AN OKAY SYNO PSIS? PLOT PITCH? IDK.

There was once a very ancient civilization on the planet of Thedora. Not much is known about them, especially since they left very little behind after their extinction. What is known, however, is that the very presence of these beings dampened the natural magics of the land until there was barely a trickle. With their absense, what had once barely clung to life alighted once again from the remaining sparks.

These primal energies separated into eleven distinct elements, and began to gain their own sentience. With this, the first of the Dragons were born. Pure magic, powerful, God-like creatures, they tamed the lands around them. With the magic coming off the dragons more sentient folk began to take shape, though the Dragons would be the de facto rulers of this world, and were quick to remind any of this fact if they stepped out of line. The Dragons deemed these new races "Sophisticated Animals" or Sophisticates, as they diverged from the regular common creatures such as wolves, cats, foxes and rats thanks to the magic.

Tension was high between the various Kith races of the land, stoked by the need to impress their Lords. Then came The Unmaking. The Dragons were prepared, boastful and sure of themselves, with plenty of Kith to sacrifice to end the calamity that took the ones before.

But something went wrong.

The Dragons, once all powerful rulers of the known world... Vanished. News spread fast, The Dragons have fallen. Ash and dust was all that remained. Their magic was torn lose, saturating the air. The Kith started to bare children with focused magic crystals bound to their very life force. The first of the Wielders. Occasionally, the souls of the Wielders would become so overloaded with the blood of Dragons that they were born different, if they survived birth at all. The Dragonborn, a gift and curse rolled into one. The mortal body could not hold so much magic and go unscathed, even when they survived to adulthood.

The power vaccum left behind lead to many wars. Now with magic of their own, all sides grew more emboldened, focusing on colonization, on freedom, on the ongoing and constant fight of resources.

So much so that the signs of the next Unmaking arising in the Fel'Wyd lands were ignored. The blight on the world was returning. And only a few could see past the scrabble for resources and see that all were in danger. (<- waow those are the main characters)

not all of it is set besides the dragons fell, their magic was redistributed to random members of the masses with some being particularly powerful, aaand theres too much fighting and war for anyone to pay attention that there are demons emerging from the ground to destroy kill destroy. those are the big bits.

Dragonfell Chronicles: Known Sentients (Part One) Canines

preface: i made the dogs imperialists who think theyre doing good and taming wild lands when in fact they're just overpowering everyone with their advanced military by force. sorry. i swear i love dogs this is just. how the story evolved over time

The Canine race values loyalty, strength, family, and unification through any means necessary. Naturally more comfortable in large groups and able to coordinate in even large armies with ease, they quickly began to expand and conquer the land for themselves after the Dragons fell. Many Canine can trace their lineages back to loyal soldiers or servers to the Dragons, who enjoyed their cooperative nature and strength to rule over small plots of land in their absence (though of course no responsibility was *too* large) Canine have mandatory military service that must be served for at least a year at some point between the ages of 17 to 21 (unless one can pay their way out of it.) They are raised to be proud, unyielding, the voice of reason in an untamed wild world. Surprisingly, they accept foriegn races into their folds quite openly on the surface... granted they completely integrate into Canine society and leave any trace of their previous culture behind. (It also helps if they serve in the military on the Canine side.) their mythologies revolve around overcoming adversity from nothing. ("underdog" stories, basically. David and goliath stuff) They are the most numerous of the races and hold the most land, wealth, and power. Whoever is strongest is the most valued and holds the most power and wealth. Even when it comes to relationships. The weaker of a bonded pair takes the strongers last name, to preserve their bloodlines and strength. They are expected to put the good of the nation as a whole before their own individual lives. If you are strong, highly intelligent, or otherwise useful to the whole it is easy to climb the social ranks and be respected. Surprisingly, they don't take terrible care of the elderly or disabled and put aside resources for them.. IF they had been useful at some point in their lives beforehand...

Subraces

Timber-Birthed: Resembles wolves the most. The largest of the races height-wise, with some bigger individuals reaching 8 foot (2.4 meters) or even taller in rare cases. Commonly in positions of authority or anywhere that needs intimidation such as guards or bouncers.

Hearth-Birthed: Resemble small and stocky dogs, chihuahuas, bulldogs, ect the most. A fiesty and emotional people, though their friendliness is just as famous as their anger and propensity to go beserk in battle (or at bars). Some of the shortest races, maxing out at around 5 foot (1.5 meters) and often shorter. Some of the proudest even by Canine standards.

Plains-Birthed: Resemble skinny and bony sighthounds such as whippets, silken windhounds, ect. The most fragile of the Canine sub-races and found more often in secratorial or desk job work, which they will defend tenaciously is just as important, if not more important, than the hands on military aspects. Some will also go into more sneaky assassin work, as their lithe frames and quick movement make them ideal assets on the sidelines.

Pack-birthed: Resemble any other not covered dog and dog adjacent subrace. Found in every job and make up the bulk of their people. Very adaptable kith that usually keep to themselves. Strongly family driven, which can clash with the nationalistic expectations of the other subraces.

Dragonfell Chronicles: Random World Info

Located in the world of Thedora (Thay-dora)

Nation: The Fel'Wyd (fell-wood)

Races: They're all furries and I'll get into specifics later 🤟 i just wanted to put somewhere that nah no elves or dwarves its wolves and cats babeyyy

Setting: High fantasy-like, lots of wildnerness with the occasional smaller village. A lot of life on Thedora was wiped out along with the dragons and remains uninhabitable by common kith due to extreme weather or rough terrain. Competition for good land is fierce, especially since the land air and water becomes blighted thanks to the newly emerging demons. Most of the land is stuck between skirmishes between the Canine and Feline races, though if it's an all out war is dependent on who you ask about it.

Issues: Racism, Imperialism, Missing Children, Blighted lands, Demonic Creatures From Places Unknown, Inbalanced And Strangely Hostile Wildlife, Thousand Year Old Witches, Corruption, probably more....... A Fun Place!!
