Along a section of the shoreline of Neverland, the beach slowly shifted into and upward as rocky terrian took over. But before it actually heightened into cliff-face, the entrance of a dark cave could be seen, even if only from said shore and was otherwise hidden naturally from much further inland.
A tip of a red tail was just disappearing into this quiet cavern, and the scaled beast it was following had been responsible for the clawed footprints that briefly appeared where the sand started shifting to rock. The waves lapping against the shore had washed the marks away within minutes, however, and the dragon that had settled within his treasured cave by this time slowly sat and then laid down with an exhale. His head rested beside him a few moments later, and his breathing slowed to a peaceful steadiness as he listened to the ocean and an occasion caw of a seagull outside.
The dragon was not quite sure whether he actually dozed off or not, and thus was unaware how much time had actually passed when he was disturbed. Apple green eyes flicked open as an unfamiliar scent reached the creature --well, not entirely unfamiliar, as he recognized it to be human, but unfamiliar in the sense of not resembling that of a dirty boy, an Indian, or a pirate. His head slowly raised, a clink or two of a few coins the only sound being made from the motion, and he watched the curve into the entrance of his home in silence.
At first, he thought it may have only been someone passing nearby that the sea's breeze had caught the scent of and carried inward, but upon seeing a shadow against the sun's rays from outside, it appeared this was not the case. Claws flexed against stone as he waited for the individual to either lose nerve and flee, or continue in to be identified before he ever decided to pounce on them or otherwise.
