“GOOOOOOOOD MORNING DOMINO CITY! It’s a beautiful day, temperatures ranging in the--”
No.
He threw the clock across the room, causing the old circuitry to jumble about and go silent. Joey Wheeler was in no mood for overly cheerful radio djs telling him about how great today would be.
Up. Down. Up! Down. Finding the will to leave his warm blankets was always the hardest part on quiet mornings, but he managed.
He couldn’t be late for his better paying job, after all.
Shower? Quickly. Teeth? Brushed. Hair? Not brushed, but a quick run through with his fingers and no one would really notice, right? Normally he’d take much more care to look somewhat presentable at the cafe, but today, well...
He was running late. Despite his efforts, despite his attempts to shorten his grooming time, he was still ten minutes behind by the time he’d hopped on his bike and started peddling feverishly through the poorer parts of town.
Kaiba Corp Cafe would hopefully not mind him being a LITTLE late. As long as the cafe owner himself didn’t arrive, perhaps he could even get away with stealing some food from behind the counters for a quick breakfast?
A half hour of peddling and sneaking him and his bag of uniform clothes into the employee’s only backroom and he was ready for action.
Action, in this case, being waiting tables and trying to charm customers into buying more food with his Winning Smile ™.
“Hello and welcome to Kaiba Corp Cafe, where we only serve the best!”
The required greeting for everyone who worked there, because it was true. The baked goods? Hand made that morning or prepped the night before. The juices?Gathered and squeezed by local businesses who met the dreaded, uncompromising Kaiba quality standards. If there was anything in this cafe that wasn’t affordable and the best they could get, you never saw it.
That said, and knowing Seto Kaiba personally, Joey always managed to say this little greeter with an ounce more sincerity than most of the other employees. With that confidence and his generally warm attitude, Joey was easily one of the more well-received table waiters.
Joey had this down to -- what he considered -- a science. Smile that glorious Joey Wheeler smile. Say the greeting in full confidence. Joke and flirt just enough to get the patrons to like him. Get them their order and see them out when they’re done.
Simple. Just be friendly.
Friendly... was not what he’d expected he’d need to pull off when he saw Seto Kaiba himself walk into the cafe.

Joey had a popcorn kernel hopelessly stuck in his teeth for a full year when he was in fourth grade. He hated going to the dentist, and it wasn’t discovered until his mom made him go for a checkup.
Little Delilah bites the heads off of her animal crackers first. Her reasoning? It's more humane. #dragonlogic Think I may have to go with a food theme for my next adoption event! #dragonart #animalcrackers #heretherebesculptures #htbs
