“Drink Me” [Nasus] (I absolutely love how you portray Varus <3!!!)
((thank you so much!)
“I did not think an immortal would partake in a drink, let alone ask me to be their drinking companion.” Varus muttered, staring into the dark liquid in his cup. It was some sort of Shuriman alcohol, smelled strong.
He thought that if he could actually get drunk, this stuff would achieve that quite quickly. But alas, no such pleasure for him. It only burned as he drank it, no lingering taste or sensations. Just burning.
He was surprised that the Curator would ask him off all people to get a drink. Nasus normally seemed so cold and aloof. An immortal among humans.
“I have seen many men like you archer. Men who have fallen to darkness not because they wish to, but because they do not see any other choice.” the great librarian finally spoke, his voice booming like a sand storm. For a moment, he relieved watching his brother dragging the mad magus into the tomb, his voice yelling that this was the only way. How many men had sacrificed themselves because “there was no other way?”“You think yourself a monster, do you not? I myself felt similar when I too changed. But appearances do not reflect what is inside. Even one as great as an Ascended can still reminisce about the joy he used to feel from a good drink.” he told him, before taking a sip of his own.
“You may not think it possible, but you are still a man Varus. You may still choose humanity over damnation. But that choice is only yours to make. And for your sake, I hope you chose life. The human spirit can overcome anything through will. And the triumph is all the sweeter for it.”“I hope you take what I said into consideration Varus. These days there seems to be so little good in the world and to see one as noble as you fall make it a little darker. “ Nasus spoke, standing to his full height, before walking off into the dunes.Varus took another sip of his drink. As much as he tried to find a taste in his drink, as much as he wanted it to be a warm comfort to him, all he could taste were ashes in his mouth.
