“I can’t sleep.”
She sat up from her side gazing down at her husband, somewhat perplexed. Though offers him a soft smile, her silvery white hair falling from her shoulders in a cascade almost touching his face. Yue reached over to touch his scarred cheek and tilts her head before breaking into a smile.
“Shall we steal a midnight snack? Sure it’s just nerves over your meeting is it not?”

He’s nervous, too. This is the first time they’ll be announcing it to the Fire Nation, the Water Tribes, the entire world. Zuko takes his fiancée’s hand and gives it an encouraging squeeze before pulling it up to his lips.
“Maybe they’re mad the most beautiful and talented woman in the world is officially off the market,” Zuko quips back in a whisper.
Katara felt her cheeks flush from his compliments and his soft lips on her knuckles. How could he make her heart flutter like buttermoth is beyond her. He was wonderful.
“Or they could be jealous that I got the most amazing man I know.” She smiled and whispered in return, watching as they prepared to tell the world about their relationship. “I’m nervous but.. I’m really excited to.”

"He didn’t- he didn’t adore me, or admire me!” Azula hissed, lips curling in disgust. “You can’t come here and tell me that! After everything, Zuko, if there’s one thing you can’t tell me, is that father had positives feelings about any of us.
“Maybe he didn’t burn my face off, but he only saw me as a weapon, and that is all. I can still hear him, commanding me to perfection, moulding me to what you failed to be. The threats of what was to come if I failed. He needn’t use his fire for me to bow before him, Zuko, and I have nightmares about his eyes on me every single night.” Azula maneuvered to sit back on her heels. Her arms kept begging to be unleashed, her hands prickling to use fire. To show him how much it hurt.
“You all seem to think it was easy, that you could leave because he praised me, and that meant I’d be fine. Well I wasn’t! At least that part should be obvious! Look at me Zuko, look at where you put me. All of you.” She moved away from him, to the opposite wall, and slumped unceremoniously against it. Not like there was another way to do it, with her arms restrained.
“One by one you all left, and I had to play my cards the best I could, to try and make it out in one piece. And look at how well that worked! He never cared about me, she never cared about me, and if you so desperately want to be on a different list- If you want to make me believe you do care, then shut the fuck up, brother.”
Her throat hurt, and she was tired of this; of people telling her what she’d lost. Because it was a hoax, she’d never even got any of it in the first place. It was her golden brother the one with the better deal. With family, friends, and a throne. Everything she’d been promised. So much for the vanished Prince.
“I don’t feel sorry about myself, don’t worry.” She didn’t. She hated herself. Azula’s gaze moved away from him, head falling against the wall. “So you’re marrying the Waterbender. How- fitting.”
“I just wanted to say I’m sorry.”
“Oh but Zuko, it’s not so bad.” Azula drawled, twisting her head to catch a better glimpse of her brother, a mad smirk on her lips.
“The straightjacket is cozy, and the room is so soft, you should try it sometime.” She chuckled. “Come brother dearest, sit with me, we can ask the nurses for some soup, and you can see how adorable it is to be fed.
“Oh, but what am I saying, I’m sure you’re already used to it, the honorable Fire Lord and all that. I bet you have a line of servants waiting to put a spoon in your mouth, am I right?” Her eyes moved to the guard on the other side of the door frame, and she threw a leg out to catch Zuko’s. “Am I right, brother?”
"We want you to be her godmother, Azula."
Azula locked eyes with Zuko, trying to see if he was being serious. But he wouldn’t joke about something like that, right?
“Are you sure, brother? Maybe there’s someone best suited, more stable?” She asked, already feeling a little crack in the little bubble of happiness Zuko’s words had created.
“I can’t stop worrying I’ll turn into him.”
“You know Zuko, I dream of the day you’ll come to me with a present, news of another nephew or niece, or an invitation for dinner, just the two of us.” Azula let her head roll lazily over the chaise, and gave her brother a slow smirk.
Honestly, the man needed to just relax. She reached out to grab at his wrist, holding him in place. “Don’t be daft, you won’t.”
