Hardy Strid (July 6, 1921 - 2012) was a Swedish artist. He studied at Valands målarskola in Gothenburg from 1947 - 52 and in the 1960s joined the Situationist International. Along with Danish artists and brothers Asger Jorn and Jørgen Nash he founded the artists’ collective Drakabygget.
Strid is at all major Swedish museums, plus Arken and the Museum Jorn in Denmark and other international museums, such as Cincinnati Art Museum.

Lis Zwick (August 16, 1942 - 2020) was a Danish artist and member of the Drakabygget collective in Skåne, Sweden. There she also married fellow artist Jørgen Nash with whom she traveled extensively, for instance to Mexico - the influence of which is visible in her work.

Today we celebrate Jørgen Nash, Danish poet and artist (March 16, 1920 - 2004).
Nash was the brother of much more famous CoBrA artist Asger Jorn, and his paintings are somewhat similar in their ‘wild’ style. Nash, however, first and foremost was a poet and activist, and by age 40 he had published 7 collections of poetry and 2 novels - many of which had Asger Jorn illustrations in them.
In the 60s Nash became a famous provocateur, authoring many happenings and Situationist acts. The best known of those was his claim to have decapitated The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen in 1964…
He spent the last half of his life in Sweden, living in the artists’ commune Drakabygget and during this time he produced most of his visual art.

He spent the last half of his life in Sweden, living in the artists’ commune Drakabygget. It was during this time he produced most of his visual art, including the cover to his 1987 exhibition on the occasion of his 67th birthday at Gallerie Knud Grothe, shown above.
The poem I include is from his 1962 collection The Cock’s Crow, and is dedicated to Jacques Prévert - who along with Dylan Thomas was Nash’s biggest influence...
