Chris, look!” Jessica chirped excitedly “Victoria’s secret is having a sale!”

Chris frowned down at where Jess’s hand had slipped from his to point at the pastel sale sign in the shop window. His other hand clutching about five shopping bags, all filled with various things for Jess. The only thing she was holding was a tiny Sephora bag with her new lip gloss in it (she wanted to help). He hadn’t gotten a thing from their shopping trip (hadn’t wanted to).

“The bra store?” Chris asked with a smirk, lame joke already brewing in his head, “you have like a million bras… and you only have two boobs” he finishes with a lopsided smirk.

Jessica’s blue eyes meet his, eyeliner wing sharp enough to slice the dumb smile off his face. She gives him an unamused look.

“That one was really bad… you’re losing it, Hartley” she shakes her head with a small smile threatening her lips, enjoying teasing him.

“Hey—no I’m not—I’m just… I’m tired from carrying all these bags—“ Chris motions to the shopping bags clutched in his hand.

“I told you I would carry some!” Jess laughs, reaching for the bags.

“N-no!—“ Chris swipes the bags out of her reach, “don’t you dare” he tells her.

“Then stop complaining….” She takes a sip from the iced latte she has in her hand. “You know, they don’t just have bras there… there’s like, lingerie and stuff too.” her eyes twinkle with mischief.

Chris’s eyebrows raise immediately, his head darts around, almost like he’s making sure no passerby is hearing what she’s saying “oh yeah?” He asks, his voice soft and low, like he’s shy.

Jess bites her bottom lip to keep from giggling at the nervous-boy look on his face. She nods.

“Have you ever dressed a Barbie doll Chris?” She asks with a teasing lilt, her arm hooking into his.

Chris’s brows furrow for a second, really considering her question:

“N-no—I never played with Barbies—well actually this one time Josh and I stole one of Hannah’s Barbie’s and we cut all her hair off and scrubbed her boobs off on the cement so she could be a dude—b-because our army guys needed a general, but I don’t think that counts” he answers seriously.

Jess’s smirk twists into a horrified grimace and she looks from the lingerie display in the window back to Chris, who was blinking at her expectantly behind his smudged glasses.

“Ooohhhkay I was going to say you were going to get to pick out an outfit for your Barbie doll—me—but on second thought I don’t think I want you anywhere near my boobs”

Chris shakes his head dismissively: “I would never scrub your boobs off.”
