The stromanthe sanguinea plant is just fabulous.

Yes, it's a bit temperamental. Yes, it needs high humidity. Yes, I killed my first one. But damn, that leaf structure, texture & colors are phenomenal. Don't you think?

Now, I do provide high humidity, medium to low indirect light. I've grown this one for about a year now.

ZZ plants thrive in bright & medium indirect light. 💚 🌞

🙅🏽ZZs are not "Zero light plants". All living plants need at least little light. They can survive in low light and stand for short periods of no light, but they won't thrive, all their energy goes to their survival needs.

🙅🏽ZZs are not "Zero water plants". All plants need water or moisture of some source. The thing is they grow rhizomes which store nutrients and water. So they are able to survive longer periods without water, needing less watering.

🙅🏽ZZ are not unkillable. I've killed ZZ plants in the past.

✅Follow the finger test method to determine when to water them & give them at least medium indirect light.

Calathea Rufibarba Drama Scene!

I totally forgot to water her and out of the sudden I see her like this.

I scream and ran to water her immediately. After a couple hours, she is back to normal. She had to be my kid! 😂

Asparagus Setaceus (Asparagus Fern, not a true fern)

I've had him for about 2 years and he's grown a lot. This baby is toxic to pets. I love the foliage because it looks like mini tree in the jungle.

✓Medium indirect light. Too much light would burn the leaves and you'll see them get brown and dry.

✓High humidity

✓Keep it moist. Don't let them dry fully.

Plant Shelves - 2nd Floor Update

Most of my maranta leuconeuras, calatheas and ctenanthes live here. They get the perfect light from the window right in front of them. I also have a humidifier set to keep the room at 70-75% humidity.

Tomorrow I'll be repotting my struggling calathea white star to a small pot and I'll move her to the IKEA cabinets to have a higher humidity at all times.

The shelves were not expensive at IKEA. You could even have a double one if you have the space.
