Ministry The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste American opaque gold 12″ (1989, 2019)
30 years after The Mind...’s release, Ministry celebrated its’ anniversary by announcing the Industrial Strength Tour, with KMFDM and Front Line Assembly on the line-up. The Eighties-industrial heavy hitters who are still making records in 2020 are coming back and everyone is falling over for it. We woke up first thing in the morning when those tickets went on sale and we got ‘em. We took no chances in securing what would be an ultimate victory for industrialists everywhere and a day we’d never forget.
What do you know? Only a few days after we purchased our day-one tickets would we have second thoughts. Sin Quirin (Ministry) has been accused of allegedly sexually assaulting his underage fans. Lucia (KMFDM) voiced her support for Sin and victim-blamed the women he’s slept with, with Jourgensen saying nothing and Chris Connelly walking off the tour. If that wasn’t horrible enough, Sascha (KMFDM) had some discriminating choice words to say about Laetherstrip’s Claus Larsen; the likes we won’t mention here because we won’t support homophobia. Though it’s a few months before the tour takes place in the summer, we can’t help but to wonder if Uncle Al or any of the guilty parties will correct themselves.
Omaha’s Drastic Plastic re-issued The Mind... with 1,500 pieces of gold opaque vinyl, all numbered and foiled.
The self-titled 1993 debut LP from THE MUFFS
Easily one of the best albums of the '90s PERIOD - was never issued on vinyl... until now! Drastic Plastic just did 500 copies each on black and green vinyl, and we're pretty sure this is gonna be IT.
We have one copy on black!
And two on green!
GOOD LUCK!
You know what? Bill Nelson should be more popular, his oeuvre should be known around the world, he should be cherished more often. True, his discography's vastness scare us, yet there are actually great entry points into it. One such is the band he began his career with called Be Bop Deluxe. After I listened to some of it LPs, I admit I am not surprised that Mr. Nelson worked with Sylvian on many occasions, since both Be Bop Deluxe and Japan went through a similar arc, i.e. they transformed themselves from also-rans to innovators. However, Be Bop Deluxe showed their idiosyncrasy earlier than Japan. Moreover, their development also resembled Roxy Music's, had Ferry ended the group with Manifesto. Therefore, all the albums by Be Bop Deluxe serve as a great gateway for Bill Nelson, because they already showed us the restless spirit that he still is.
