totally brand new ones? i’d really like to learn the harp. i don’t know, it’s just an instrument i’ve been obsessed with since i was little. also i’d love to get into kickboxing and rock climbing. i need to work on hobbies i used to love and dropped the last couple years too, namely, writing, and making collages, even if they’re bad. and uhhhhh i can’t think of a skill that i have now that i wish i’d had five years ago? CHRIST that really means it’s really time to pick up something new.

favourite book is still the long way to a small angry planet - becky chambers. favourite genres are fantasy and sci-fi - i tend to read more fantasy but sci fi stories ALWAYS hit harder. and i WISH i had the document of book quotes i was collecting years ago, i do NOT know what hard drive it’s on or if it even survived several data moves, but here are two off the top of my head that have apparently dug deep and persisted for me:

hahahaha, okay, so,
god, the entire mess that was shambhala. the music festival. most of my friend group was old enough to go, but i was not. shy a month. my boyfriend at the time didn’t want to go without me so he didn’t buy a ticket, but he did REALLY want to go, and i did too. we joked about going along and sneaking in but we didn’t like, actually commit to that until like right at the last minute. sham is…. big. so our friends let us bail from the jeep faar from the entrance and we slipped into the woods surrounding the festival, like, a 40 minute hike to the grounds. through woods and crossed a river (WHICH SUCKED, BY THE WAY, VERY FAST, VERY COLD), hopped a fence, and then so it wasn’t obvious that we were sneaking in we stashed our backpacks like, under a log or something, and walked in. people did see us wander in from the woods but they cheered because i guess it looked like we had just finished banging in the woods. it was cool for a while, but dodging wristband checkpoints was haaard, it was the first year they were really cracking down on it. and so we eventually get caught. there’s this whole thing where we lie about our identity and spin this entire story, and even though we’re being like, detained, kind of, outside the festival and it’s the middle of the night and it’s raining and we were given one (ONE) sleeping bag to share, in the dirt, for hours, the dude who was dealing with us was SO concerned and doing his best to fix things for us and we were like… fuck……. we gotta come clean. and so we did. he was… disappointed in us. obviously we get tossed out. which is obviously a problem in general BUT! it’s even worse! our legitimate pass holder friends are the ones with the vehicle and this festival is HOURS away from where we live. we also do not have any of our shit, because it’s under some fucking log still. so we have to SNEAK BACK IN. like wander down the highway until we find our original point of entry, try to follow our old path, CROSS THAT GODAWFUL RIVER AGAIN, retrieve our stuff, CROSS THE RIVER AGAIN AAAAAAH, get back to the highway, and hitchhike back. also? cellphone service there was spotty at its best, and null most of the time. we couldn’t tell our friends what had happened to us. so yeah we walked for a fair while before hitching our first ride and because of the brush and the FUCKING river and my shoes being not entirely practical my ankle was cut and bleeding, a lot, and we weren’t the ones in the group with the packed medical supplies, so my boyfriend literally ripped his sleeve off and bandaged me up. for our first ride we got picked up by some REAL fucking shady motherfuckers, and we bailed as fast as possible. found another ride who was a lot less scary and stayed with them until our paths diverged. bail, walk, find an orchard, sit under a tree and eat fistfuls of cherries, ravenously at first but then playfully, feeding each other and laughing about our misfortune. we came across a little fruit market a little ways after that too and we bought a bunch. after that rest we hitched rides twice more with more nice people. i can’t imagine what they thought of us lol, dirty and damp and covered in forest debris and in my case, still bleeding and bandaged up with a torn shirt. the last dude who picked us up was just a couple years older than us and just, amazing, an absolute sweetheart, took us most of the way home and had the best taste in music, and some of the stuff he showed us is still my favourite to this day. the entire adventure was.. long. we were kicked out officially just before dawn, and it was around 8pm when we finally made it back home. it was exhausting, but after surviving that him and i were so much closer than before, and so it was worth it, and no cherries since have been as sweet.
a time i WISH i’d been more impulsive? there’s.. not many. i’m pretty confident that my judgement calls to hang back have been the right choice. hmm. i wish i’d [redacted] and [redacted]
i’ve only been playing dnd for a tiny bit, but made my own tabletop system as a kid. i’m dming a group rn through discord, its really fun and really queer (there’s gonna be a festival about the two moon lesbians someday, and all the dwarves are genderqueer, and literally every character who has spoken is queer, the only straight guy died)

i admire it and wish i was more spontaneous but oh, does it annoy me. i need to know how much energy i’m spending on a day or i can easily get pissed off.

this might be a terribly boring answer but areas that are usually busy when they’re dead quiet. i don’t know, i just get an incredible feeling from being like, in a mall after its closed, on a concert stage with no one in the auditorium, a normally busy street at 4am
