Five years without drawing for real, so I'm back to work on it.
Six years ago, I almost stopped drawing.
Back then, I wasn’t accepted into the art school I had applied to and it crushed something inside me. I started to believe I wasn’t good enough, that maybe drawing just wasn’t meant for me. For a long time, I barely touched my pencils.
Then, two years ago, something changed.
I stumbled back into an old anime from the ‘90s – one I had been searching for ever since I was a kid, without even realizing it. That anime was Rurouni Kenshin (both the original and the remake). It stirred something deep in me. The art, the emotions, the storytelling, it made me want to draw again. Really draw.
Yes, I also learned about the scandal surrounding the creator and no, I don’t ignore the truth. But it didn’t take away what the story meant to me. I believe in facing reality without erasing what moved me. Art can be complicated like that.
I’ve been drawing since I was a child, with long breaks and detours. But anime, manga, and all the creative worlds they opened up… they gave me something I didn’t even know I needed: A reason to keep creating. Without them, my life would’ve been colorless. Hobbyless. A little bit lonelier.
So here I am. Still drawing. Still healing. Still grateful.
