Fun fact about your man, E. This is kinda brand new to me. It isn’t, but it is. Back in the day I was into Brand Nubian, EPMD, BDP, Public Enemy, Tribe Called Quest, pretty much all east coast hip hop. THEN I ended up in L.A., living with a lifelong friend going to M.I., who got me deep into Paco DeLucia, Sexteto Mayor, Philip Glass, Chick Corea, Bireli Lagrene, John McLaughlin, Trilok Gurtu, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, etc., and I became this INSUFFERABLE music snob. I mean I was a total DICK about it. I’d closed my own mind and ear to it, thinking it was just some booty-shit wannabe gangsta bullshit. It was YEARS before I listened to what folks might call “mainstream” music. Hell, I’d shunned rock n roll for years too. Mind you, I grew up on rock, metal, and punk. But lately since live overseas, I have had a yearning for AMERICAN music, something that was decidedly American. Not only American but I wanted to feel Los Angeles, HOME. I’d lived in L.A. more than half my life. I got there after the Navy just 2 days after the riots of 1992. What better than Dr Dre’s The Chronic?? I’m CRAZY about this. It’s playing in my headphones all day everyday now. #drdre #drdrethechronic #whatsoldisnew #atasteofbackhome #ilovelosangeles #losangelesismycity #homebehome #drdreandsnoopdogg #westcoastrap (at Wanitakashiro, Otsu-shi) https://www.instagram.com/p/COfvlRWJUes/?igshid=rooz3uqv3cpv
